About the role  

  

The Senior Security Architect reports to the Enterprise Architect – Security and is responsible for working with key stakeholders across Coles and industry to understand the needs and propose solutions that fit a “people, process then technology” methodology.   

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Security Architect to lead our security initiatives and drive the development of robust security solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and managing our organization's security infrastructure to protect against evolving cyber threats and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Design and implementation of comprehensive security architectures for our systems and networks. 

Provide strategic direction and technical leadership to the security team, guiding them in the development and execution of security initiatives. 

Conduct thorough security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and develop effective risk mitigation strategies. 

Architect and implement advanced security controls and measures to protect sensitive data and information. 

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate security best practices into our development lifecycle and operational processes. 

Stay abreast of emerging threats, technologies, and industry trends, and provide recommendations for enhancing our security posture. 

Act as a subject matter expert on security-related matters, providing guidance and support to technical teams and senior leadership. 

Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. 

  

You’ll also have:   

 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCSP) preferred. 

Extensive experience in designing and implementing security solutions in complex environments, with a focus on enterprise-level architecture. 

Deep knowledge of network security, cryptography, identity and access management, and other security technologies. 

Proven experience with cloud security principles and hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). 

Strong understanding of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls. 

Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. 

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to assess risks and develop pragmatic solutions. 

Proven track record of successfully leading security initiatives and driving organizational change.
