As a member of the Security Software Engineering team, you will report to its Senior Manager. Our team is focused on enabling DigitalOcean to scale safely by building systems that detect and evict fraud & abuse on the DigitalOcean platform. We highly value collaboration and growth, and work closely with other teams in the Security organization to deliver high quality solutions and also build tooling to boost their efficiency.

What you'll do: Develop and deploy resilient services and tooling that provide security capabilities at scale, primarily in Go. You may sometimes work in Javascript and Python. Research and design automated approaches to reducing the risk of fraud, abuse, and misuse of DigitalOcean products and services. Work with product and engineering teams to design and implement secure architectures. Design and build internal tools that enable our Security Operations Center to do more, faster. Consistently improve security as the platform scales, driving continuous improvement through data collection and correlation, being mindful that security should be an efficiency enabler for the business - not an obstacle. What you'll add to DigitalOcean:Required qualifications:
5+ years of professional experience in software engineering projects, ideally with a security focus. We primarily develop in Go, with some Python and JavaScript. You are comfortable writing robust code with good test coverage and can point to specific examples of projects you’ve successfully delivered in the past. A record of partnering with internal engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements and tackle security problems across an entire stack with empathy and creativity. A high degree of curiosity, with a desire to deeply understand problems and build solutions that align with business needs and goals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. You can explain your thought process and proactively write clear documentation. Desire to build secure by default services and applications.Preferred qualifications:
Experience with microservice architectures, asynchronous and event-driven processing, and synchronous gRPC/HTTP-based requests. Experience in building secure by default services and applications. Familiarity with technologies such as gRPC, Docker, Prometheus/VictoriaMetrics, Kubernetes, and GitHub Actions. Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills. The salary range for this position is between $180,000.00 - $200,000.00 based on market data, relevant years of experience, and skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance.
