Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work of medium to high complexity as per work instructions and ABB guidelines. Each day, you will deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers. You will also showcase your expertise by working with customer to identify opportunities in the installed base, to improve system performance and operational performance.This Senior Service Engineer will work from Des Moines, IA.The work model for the role is: #LI - RemoteThis role is contributing to the ABB Electrification Division – Services Function. Main stakeholders are both our external and internal customers.You will be mainly accountable for:•\tProvide knowledge of and conduct work activities in compliance with the ABB HSE(Health, Safety and Environment), ABB Way, and Safety Manual & Safety policy at alltimes. Be responsible for hands-on execution of projects including Startup, commissioning,troubleshooting, engineering, design, and repair of Power Delivery equipment inrespective area; Power Delivery includes transformers, switchgear, OCBs, CircuitBreakers, busways, UPS, ATS, PLCs, Relays, Power Management Controls systems andother Power related equipment & controls. Lead outages with other field engineers, technicians, and contractors including projectmanagement, lead site engineer or site project manager. Perform administrative functionssuch as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing jobstatus reports, reports to customers, time sheet, and expense sheets on a complete timely,and thorough basis. Plan, organize, and perform multifunctional field assignments in designated areas ofexpertise, directing the work of other field engineers and craft labor as required, in atimely and efficient manner. Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognizedindustry standards for engineering ability. Plan, prepare, and/or instruct both internal and external training programs as required, toimpart and perpetuate field engineering and/or product knowledge in area ofspecialization. Perform administrative functions in a timely manner that are associated with your work;such as writing technical reports, ordering necessary materials, securing quotations,preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheets, expense tracking sheets,and cost control activities. Such tasks must be completed on a timely, and thorough basis.

Qualifications for the role

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 additional years of related engineering / field experience). Minimum of 5 years of field engineering experience. Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% as required. Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid passport and driver's license. Knowledge of industrial customer base in geographical area. Technical skills in testing of power distribution and delivery to include Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Breakers, Switchgear, Relays and Transformers. Experience in the repair and refurbishment of LV and MV circuit breakers (OEM equipment such as Siemens, GE, ABB, SquareD, Multilin relays, and Schweitzer Relays). Technical skills in testing, commissioning, startup and troubleshooting of medium voltage synchronous machines (including excitation systems), controls systems and Programmable Logic controllers a plus.Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
