About the role
The Sr. Safety, Health and Environment Manager manages and coordinates all safety, health and environment programs, processes and activities in order to maintain a compliant and safe work environment. This role drives excellence in safety, health and environment across the site to achieve best safety and sustainability results. The Sr. SHE Manager will develop the local strategy to deliver legal compliance and ensure execution of BC Standards. This role will assure the implementation of programs to drive reduction of safety incidents and environmental harmful impact. The Sr. SHE Manager leads and manages SHE related incidents on site. This role provides guidance and support on relevant SHE matters. The Sr. SHE Manager is a member of the Plant Management Team.
Key responsibilities
●Designs, maintains and leads the implementation of the local safety and environmental management systems.
● Leads SHE incident management and drives management of CAPA relating to documented risks and or incident follow up.
● Conducts SHE meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
● Provides site employees, contractors and visitors with guidance on health and safety and confirm project site complies with Barry Callebaut, industry, local, state/provincial, and national guidelines and regulations.
● Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for site SHE incident notification, investigation and case management.
● Integrating occupational health and safety imperatives with business decision-making and risk management.
● Advising on engineering and maintenance practices to drive improvement of safe systems of working.
● Drive positive SHE culture through but not limited to: embedding the 10 LSP's, 1-2-5 principle, Gemba safety talks and training, and putting Safety first demonstrated by consistent management behaviors.
● Ensure compliance is regularly audited and performance assessed and use the results to drive further improvement.
● Responsible for monitoring and measurement of SHE variables - SHE Scorecard.
About you
●Master degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent industrial experience.
● Qualifications required by local regulatory authorities: to add by the location.
● Project Management skills.
● Internal auditor or ISO auditor qualification a plus.
● Experience of Lean/TPM tools and ways of working a plus.
● Understand the requirements of relevant standard such as ISO 14001; ISO 45001 or OSHSAS 18001.
●5 to 10 years’ experience in a factory-based role: Safety, Health or Environment role, Operations, Continuous Improvement, Process Improvement or Quality.
● Experience with SHE management systems and risk management.
● Experience with influencing behavioral change in a team/department.
