Senior Site Civil Design Engineer – Land Development | Hybrid | Wethersfield, CT
VHB’s growing CT team is seeking a Site Civil Design Engineer to support our Land Development practice.
Responsibilities
Work independently with a team of professionals in developing site civil engineering plans, reports and specifications for a multitude of land development projectsLead and assist with civil engineering for retail, residential, institutional, renewable energy and industrial site design including grading and drainage design, utility design, and site layoutPreparation and/or reviewing of design criteria, drawings and specificationsPreparation of schematic design, design development, and construction contract documentationLead the preparation of permitting, design and construction documentsProject task financial performance, and management of small or medium projectsAttending meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issuesTechnical and design report writingSkills and Abilities
Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skillsTeam oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with other emerging professionals and managersAbility to work in a fast-paced office, virtual, and field environment, in rural or urban environmentsProven strong work-ethic and self-motivated to produce high quality outcomesHighly organized, and detail oriented, with ability think creatively and formulate solutions in team environmentKnowledge of local and state regulations governing site designQualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study requiredMaster’s degree a plus (may substitute for 1 year of experience)8-11 years of professional site/civil design engineering experience requiredProficiency with AutoCAD, TR-55 and Rational Method for drainage design (i.e., HydroCAD, and StormCAD) requiredPE (Professional Engineer) license requiredSolid understanding of the typical land entitlement process in CT including permitting at the local and state level preferredWe are VHB!
