This role in summary
Delivery of software for embedded systems and associated software tools for all Whirlpool products
Your responsibilities will includeWork with peers and supervisors to deliver software with high quality, in accordance with approved requirements.
Ensure successful development and maintenance in at least one software component within the EES software component repository.
Work with the project manager to plan the delivery of software with the project's delivery requirements and defined cadence.
Apply project management and work package management techniques
Work with V&V team to diagnose and then fix issues identified during testing, and to improve testing; respond to critical and major issues on priority; analyze bug trends, capture knowledge, and drive long-term improvements
Drive best practices for software development.
Keeps abreast of the latest developments in software technologies, tools, processes, etc.
Provide technical leadership in at least one software areas (e.g., RTOS, HMI, IoT, PC-based tools, AI/ML, etc.)
Solve technical problems within the product category software team
Prepare and maintain quality documentation of owned software, mentor junior engineers in documentation
Lead technical design and code reviews
Provide timely feedback to engineers and managers
Mentor and lead other software engineers.

Preferred skills and experiencesLeadership in delivery of embedded software features towards the successful delivery of projects
Software module architecture following requirements; unit test plans
Project plan, dashboards, and metrics
Architecture reuse plan and Integration
Support for builds and internal integration events
Communication and close interaction with external process partners - third party vendors as needed
Documentation of implemented software
Mentorship of team members
Contribution to increased team capabilities through ideas, proofs-of-concept, Continuous Improvement projects, etc.
Contribution to hiring activities
Additional informationProficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems
Knowledge of microprocessor/microcontroller architecture, hardware basics
Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, I2C, SPI, UART, etc.
Understanding of the principles in relevant software area (e.g., RTOS, HMI, PC-based tools, Arduino / Raspberry Pi, etc.)
Experience in UML/SysML modeling languages
Strong verification, testing, and debugging concepts
Hands-on experience with development and debugging tools
