What you'll do:The Senior Software Developer will be part of a team who builds a web-based, state-of-the-art, telematics platform that makes sense of the data collected by our custom-built hardware. We receive detailed data and metrics for millions of vehicles and devices globally, which is processed and interpreted to create actionable information for our customers.Core responsibilities for this role encompass actively participating in design discussions and meticulously documenting requirements and technical designs. The developer is expected to ensure code quality through peer reviews, adherence to coding standards, and proactive bug identification. Analyzing call stacks, trace files, and performance data is crucial for troubleshooting and pinpointing root causes. The position also involves contributing to prototypes and proofs of concept. The Senior Software Developer is tasked with producing high-quality code in languages like C# and utilizing caching and storage technologies effectively. Providing technical support to staff and resellers is also part of the role. Staying current on language features, frameworks, and technologies is key, and offering informed recommendations is encouraged. This developer will contribute to defining team best practices and may participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
How you'll make an impact Listen and contribute to design discussions and make detailed notes and documenting requirements and technical design. Provide guidance to more junior team members, sharing knowledge across the teams. Write scalable, high quality and secure software in a variety of programming languages and environments, such as C#, JavaScript, SQL. Perform quality assurance by doing peer review, ensuring coding standards are followed, looking for logic errors and other bugs. Analyze call stacks, trace files, performance data to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of bugs. Participate in development of prototypes, minimum viable products and proofs of concept. Provide assistance to our support staff and resellers from a technical perspective. This may be in the form of on-call or ad-hoc questions relating to how certain features work or verifying the behaviour by reviewing code. Research new language features, frameworks and other relevant technologies and offer recommendations to Leads and senior leaders. Assist in defining best practices to be used in the team. Provide design documents and documentation to ensure efficient maintenance and code reuse. Ensure the functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules and system architecture for each assignment. Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotating schedule. What you'll bring to the role 5+ years of experience with using Linux, C# and .Net Core and experience with optimization and multithreaded programming. 2+ years of experience with System Design and Architecture. 2+ years of cloud computing experience with either GCP, AWS, or Azure. Experience with SQL Server and Postgres database design, optimization, and writing queries. Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is required. Expert knowledge with optimizing databases (e.g. MySQL). Proficiency in Git (or some other distributed source control tool) and are comfortable with resolving merge conflicts and renaming branches, etc. Bachelor of Computer Science, Electrical/Software Engineering or other related degrees.
