Senior Software Development Engineer - USB Subsystems

We are seeking a talented **_Senior Software Development Engineer - USB Subsystems_** to join the USB subsystem Software/Firmware team. In this role, you will work across embedded firmware and OS drivers to bring the latest technologies in the USB space to Surface devices. You will partner closely with silicon partners, system engineers, firmware engineers, and architects to deliver product designs optimized for high-volume consumer products. In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day. **Responsibilities** + Track the latest developments in industry standards and incorporate them into Surface products. + Investigate, reproduce, and debug complex system level problems by leveraging various software debuggers and analyzers. + Develop embedded firmware and device drivers to light up new features according to Surface product requirements and specifications. + Partner closely with silicon partners to plan future product roadmap. + Embody our Culture  (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/about/corporate-values) and Values (https://careers.microsoft.com/us/en/culture) **Qualifications** **Required/Minimum Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages **C or C++** . + OR equivalent experience. + 4+ years of experience in software and/or hardware product development. + 4+ years’ experience working with hardware devices and debugging **protocols** . **Additional or Preferred Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages **C or C++** . + OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages **C or C++** . + OR equivalent experience. + Experience with USB technologies. + Experience with Windows kernel and Windows device drivers. + Experience debugging memory crash dumps, ETL traces, system stability and performance. + Experience with various buses such as SPI, USB, I2C, UART. + Domain knowledge on significant PC subsystems such as graphics, audio, cameras, storage, etc. Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
