Get to Know the Team

Our Developer Experience team builds frameworks, libraries and primitives for fellow engineers, so that they product features more quickly. You will be reporting to Software Engineering Manager II, FLIP. Some folks and companies would recognise this as a "Platform Engineering Team", and that is what we do. We aim to bring joy, delight and excellence into the daily work of Grab engineers. Our tools are used by thousands of engineers in Grab and these tools include code scaffolding for a microservices, libraries for resiliency features, dependency management.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. As member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable backend systems that power our cutting-edge applications.

This role is onsite based in our Petaling Jaya, Malaysia office.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

You will build product and services that are frameworks, libraries and primitives that allow product engineers to build their services more efficientlyYou will build foundational tools so that engineers don't have to reinvent the wheelYou will design and implement efficient, scalable, and maintainable backend services using Go programming languageYou will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new featuresYou will participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making processesYou will conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain high code quality standardsYou will mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's overall growth and knowledge sharingYou will participate in on-call rotations to ensure system reliability and uptime

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

You have Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of professional experience in backend software developmentYou have strong proficiency in Go programming languageYou have solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and system designYou have extensive experience with distributed systems and microservices architectureYou have experience with RESTful APIs, gRPC APIs and API design principlesYou have familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or AzureYou have knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL database systemsYou have experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines
