Senior Software Engineer

Overview:
Mastercard’s Test & Learn team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive the growth of our platform and address the significant challenges of the future. In this role, you will contribute to frontend, backend, and analytical code, to scale existing analytical tools and develop new methodologies for our expanding customer base.

The Test & Learn team within Mastercard's Services organization aims to build industry-leading business experimentation software that brings sophisticated analytic techniques to business users around the world. We are rapidly expanding our product offerings and innovating on how we deliver Test & Learn solutions to our clients.

Engineers work in small, flexible teams. Every team member contributes to designing, building, and testing features. There are no rigid organizational structures, and each team uses processes that work best for team members and projects.

Role:
• Develop and enhance features that enable some of the world's largest organizations to make multi-million-dollar decisions.
• Lead the charge in pushing the boundaries of analytics, developing powerful, scalable applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams of exceptional peers who are passionate about driving innovation.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
• Design, implement, and maintain highly efficient and reliable code that scales with increasing user demands.
• Design components by translating product requirements, break down project into tasks and provide accurate estimates.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in large-scale systems to ensure high availability and performance.
• Independently diagnose and resolve complex issues, ensuring the stability and performance of our systems.
• Contribute to architectural decisions that improve system reliability, security, and scalability.
• Engage with product managers to understand customer needs and translate them into impactful software features.
• Conduct thorough code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain high code quality and best practices.
• Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, bringing innovative ideas to the team to improve our technology stack.
• Play a key role in defining and improving development processes to optimize productivity and software quality.

All About You:
• Extensive experience as a full-stack Software Engineer or Software Developer.
• Expertise in one or more programming languages/technology stacks. Our tech stack primarily includes .NET, TypeScript/React, and SQL, and deep expertise in at least one of these is ideal.
• Proficiency in advanced object-oriented programming & design principles, clean code practices, refactoring, microservice development, and databases.
• Ability to understand, extend, and improve upon existing architectural patterns on both the frontend and backend.
• Strong application development skills, with the ability to translate customer needs into valuable features.
• Experience in system design and solving complex engineering challenges.
• Experience with API development or integration is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on improving processes to accelerate delivery, foster innovation, reduce costs, and improve quality.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. Pay Ranges

Arlington, Virginia: $132,000 - $212,000 USD
