Principal responsibilities

This role will carry out some or all of the following activities

Support and maintain the IBM i infrastructure software assets including the Operating system, vendor products and in-house utilities throughout the life-cycle from PoC, certification through to patching, evergreening and retirement.Write development code and build Ansible YML automation scripts to support the IBM i systems administration and infrastructure upgrade tasks. IBM i platform training will be provided.Work under own initiative with management guidance to define standards, implement and test engineering solutions aligned with the platform architecture roadmap.Focus on independent execution, problem solving and demonstration of passion towards engineering excellence.Work on global regional Sustainable Service Program (SSP) and IBM i transformation projects.

Degree qualifications in Computer Science, Information Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent practical experienceAt least 5 years’ experience on IBM i platform with good foundation knowledge.Familiarity with tooling such as GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible – AWX is desirable.Developer background with familiarity of the IBM i platform and CL / DB2 SQL will be an advantage.Knowledge of IBM i products such as Connect:Direct, IWS Rest APIs, PowerVC is definitely an advantageKnowledge of DevOps and CI/CD adoption on IBM iKnowledge and understanding of dashboarding tools Splunk, Grafana, QlikSense is desirable.Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies.A collaborative teammate is required who enjoys working in multi-functional groups and has the ability and willingness to work with others around the world.Sound analytical, problem-solving skills and strong work ethics.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Must be able to work weekends and nights to implement changes.

Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above.
