Summary:
The Legal, Safety & Risk product line, as part of the Corporate IT Products group, is responsible for all Legal, Safety and Risk products at the MTA. Our group is seeking an experienced systems engineer with a minimum of eight years’ experience in claims, insurance or risk management cloud applications, preferably with the Origami Risk platform or other insurance claims management industry products. This role requires a robust understanding of claims processing and insurance risk management solutions, along with a proven track record in effectively managing and configuring software as a service application.
Given the critical nature of the Worker's Compensation Third Party Administrator (TPA) outsourcing program, particularly the complex ongoing integrations required, we are seeking the addition of an expert to our team for implementing and maintaining the program. We require an individual who is proficient in API enhancements and maintenance using modern languages and familiar with middleware technologies. This employee will play a vital role in our product team, understanding TPA and Origami applications, maintaining the necessary interfaces and relationships, and supporting ongoing product management in the claims technology area.
Critical Skills:
+ Become a subject matter expert in Origami Risk products and TPA integration, ensuring deep understanding and effective application in business contexts, including claims management, risk management and related integrations. Familiarity with New York State Worker's Compensation policies is desirable.
+ Design new screens and comprehensive integration architecture for systems such as Origami with integrating applications such as PeopleSoft and third-party Risk Management/Claims Management Systems
+ Experienced in technical troubleshooting of various types of claims, including public liability, FELA, general liability, and worker's compensation
+ Create, manage, and maintain automated scheduled jobs, EDI reporting, custom forms, data entry protocols, event triggers, note templates, and email templates to facilitate effective communication and documentation.
+ Expert understanding in Origami Risk, one or more programming languages, or other cloud technology solutions. Examples of preferred skillsets include Microsoft technologies, Salesforce, Visual Basic, PowerApps, MS/SQL and Oracle databases. Knowledge in JIRA platform, ServiceNow, GitLab and CI/CD and DevOps frameworks.
+ Strong understanding of web-based application development, including:
+ Visual Studio .NET, PHP, Java, Drupal, Power Platform, Mobile Development
+ Windows, Linux, SQL Server
+ Configure integration middleware or tools to facilitate seamless data exchange and migration between platforms. Knowledge of SFTP integration is expected, and MuleSoft is preferred
Responsibilities:
Determines operational feasibility by developing and evaluating analyses, problem definition, requirements, and proposed solutions
Develops complex software solutions by studying information needs, systems flow, data usage, and work processes, conferring with users, and performing standard development tasks
Develops, codes and/or configures and tests programs to meet business needs and ensure functionality of applications
Performs system risk and reliability analyses
Ensures that the design and application implementation meet security, QA, and other departmental standards
Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing complex documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, clear code, etc., and records and reports incidents and other work activities, according to department standards
Monitors system performance and leads teams in providing ongoing maintenance, and real-time incident support and enhances existing systems and platforms, as needed
Follows the departmental development processes to fix bugs, address customer concerns, and respond to service requests
Analyzes existing systems to identify and recommend opportunities for improvement or upgrade
Applies current system development methodologies and toolsets used in the organization to develop software on a routine basis
May serve as a technical lead and/or project manager on small sized projects and/or technical lead on large sized projects
May manage vendor relationships that are required to provide operational support (observing the work performed by the contractor; reviewing invoices and approving them if the work has contractual standards; addressing performance issues with the contractor when possible; and escalating issues to other parties as needed.)
May contribute to the investigation and assessment of new technologies
May mentor less experienced staff
Performs other duties as assigned
May need to work outside of normal work hours (i.e., evenings and weekends)
Travel may be required to other MTA locations or other external sites
Required Qualifications:
+ Education: Bachelor’s Degree
+ Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
