The Bloomberg API Platform’s mission is to offer data and services over high-quality APIs to our customers. The API Platform team supports hundreds of API products that unlock financial data for clients across the global capital markets. Our engineers are responsible for enabling connectivity between OpenAPI and GraphQL products, and diverse sets of data sources in our production network, such as RPC services, databases, and messages queues.
The API Platform team builds software that enables engineering groups to offer high-quality APIs to external as well as internal customers using open technologies and standards, specifically with OpenAPI and GraphQL. As a strategic part of Bloomberg connectivity infrastructure, we aim for building a high-throughput integration layer to allow our engineering partners to leverage their existing systems, and present them to customers as managed APIs using OpenAPI and GraphQL. Our platform handles several hundred million requests per day, and our integration and transformation layer is a critical and performant aspect of the complete API Platform solution.
We develop our software using a combination of open source, third-party and in-house technologies. As engineers, we try to balance using the best technology fit to solve a problem while managing the risk of using exploratory technologies. The problem domains we regularly encounter are in the realm of Distributed Systems, Data Manipulation and Transformation, and Service-oriented architectures.

You’ll need to have:4+ years of experience working with an object-oriented programming languageA Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, similar field of study or equivalent work experienceExperience with technologies such as Node.js and TypeScript, or PythonStrong problem-solving skills and an ability to adapt to challengesCan communicate and present product features and best practices to large audiences
