Senior Software Engineer - Autonomy
About Zipline

Do you want to change the world? Zipline is on a mission to transform the way goods move. Our aim is to solve the world’s most urgent and complex access challenges by building, manufacturing and operating the first instant delivery and logistics system that serves all humans equally, wherever they are. From powering Rwanda’s national blood delivery network and Ghana’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution, to providing on-demand home delivery for Walmart, to enabling healthcare providers to bring care directly to U.S. homes, we are transforming the way things move for businesses, governments and consumers. The technology is complex but the idea is simple: a teleportation service that delivers what you need, when you need it. Through our technology that includes robotics and autonomy, we are decarbonizing delivery, decreasing road congestion, and reducing fossil fuel consumption and air pollution, while providing equitable access to billions of people and building a more resilient global supply chain.

Join Zipline and help us to make good on our promise to build an equitable and more resilient global supply chain for billions of people.

About You and The Role

Zipline is transforming logistics with autonomous aircraft that deliver lifesaving medical supplies worldwide. As we scale rapidly, we need engineers who can architect and build robust, scalable systems that connect diverse software and hardware components into a cohesive whole.

We’re looking for a strong generalist who thrives in complex, cross-disciplinary environments. You’ll develop high-performance software, design scalable CI/CD pipelines, and build internal tools that accelerate engineering across Zipline. Your work will ensure that critical systems—from autonomy to hardware integration—operate reliably and efficiently as we expand.

What You'll Do   Architect and develop software that integrates multiple stacks into a modular, scalable system. Build and maintain internal tools that improve engineering efficiency, testing, and validation. Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines for seamless software deployment and testing. Collaborate with autonomy, flight systems, and infrastructure teams to solve complex system challenges. What You'll Bring   Strong software engineering skills in a typed language (e.g. Rust, C++). Experience architecting complex, scalable software systems that bridge multiple domains. Proven ability to develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines and test infrastructure. Ability to reason about performance, reliability, and maintainability at scale. Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to work across different technical areas. Excellent collaboration and communication skills. What Else You Need to Know
