Senior Software Engineer (DevOps)
SkyGrid, a Boeing, Avathon Company, exists to open the sky for autonomous flight. Based in Austin, Texas, SkyGrid builds ground based high-assurance third-party services to enable the safe operations and airspace integration of highly automated and autonomous aircraft. SkyGrid also acts as a key operational nexus for advanced air mobility, integrating and managing data, infrastructure, access, and traffic to support seamless and efficient air traffic services.
SkyGrid is seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer with DevOps experience to support our Autonomy R&D team. This role focuses on the rapid integration and deployment of algorithms, developed by R&D and Autonomy engineers, into cloud-based lab environments and simulations. This person will play a key role in end-to-end testing of next-generation autonomous air traffic management functions for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), from concept to prototype.
SkyGrid is committed to promoting an inclusive and lively culture that paves the way for opportunities and growth while remaining flexible in an ever-changing environment. Performance Objectives:Streamline deployment of prototypical functions in various internal and external lab/sim environments. Implementation of a robust CI/CD pipeline ensuring high code quality, reuse, and security via automation. Implementation of an automated system for running and tracking all lab/sim data. Support upcoming SIL/HIL simulation activities. Successfully support multiple prototypical functions in internal and external simulation labs. Advance the R&D infrastructure and automation capabilities to support data analysis and algorithmic improvement. Responsibilities:Closely work with Autonomy R&D engineers to develop software wrappers, APIs, databases and automation frameworks for integrating functional prototypes into lab environments and simulations. Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker), optimize CI/CD pipelines, and implement Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CloudFormation). Manage and secure AWS cloud infrastructure, including VPCs, VPNs, and firewalls. Support SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) and HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) simulations for validating aerospace autonomy functions. Work in an Agile/Scrum environment, document workflows, and handle controlled information (CUI, export-controlled).Qualifications:B.S. in Computer Science or a related field Work experience in software developmentProgramming Languages: Python, JavaScript, MATLAB, C/C++ and Simulink Infrastructure as Code (Pulumi, Terraform)Cloud Deployment (AWS/GCP/Azure, Kubernetes) DevOps Support (CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment, and version control systems) Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation developmentPreferred Qualifications:5-10 years of software engineering experience, with a strong focus on DevOps and cloud infrastructure. Experience deploying resources in AWS (or a similar cloud provider). Experience with automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code tools like Pulumi, Terraform, or CloudFormation. Strong proficiency in distributed systems, networking protocols, API design, and SQL database management. Experience with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ, SQS, or Kafka for event-driven architectures Experience with simulation technologies · Familiarity with AI/ML, robotics, or autonomous systems.Master's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent industry experience. Key Cloud Certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
