Senior Software Engineer I 

About the Role 

This position is performed by an experienced professional and will undertake research, design, and software development assignments within a software functional area or product line. The role provides direct input to project plans, schedules, and methodology in the development of cross-functional software products under the guidance of more senior members of the team. 

About the Team 

This position involves software design, typically across multiple components, and includes mentoring more junior team members. The role also involves interacting with users/customers to translate their requests into solutions.

 

Responsibilities 

Collaborate with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements. 

Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components. 

Complete complex bug fixes. 

Implement and guide others in continuous integration, delivery, and deployment practices. 

Identify operational requirements for logging, instrumentation, and alerting, ensuring they are met. 

Work closely with other development team members to understand product requirements and translate them into software designs. 

Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews. 

Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders. 

Resolve complex intermediate technical issues as necessary. 

Pair programming with squad members to support the learning and development of others. 

Mentor less senior software developers on development methodologies and optimization techniques. 

All other duties as assigned. 

Requirements 

Proficiency in Java/J2EE, Springboot, RestFul APIs, AWS, HTML, XML, SQL, Windows, Unix, .Net. 

Knowledge of software delivery practices. 

Understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall). 

Proficiency with data manipulation languages, including optimization techniques. 

Understanding of normalized/dimensional data modeling principles. 

Knowledge of multiple data storage subsystems. 

Research skills. 

Knowledge of industry best practices in development. 

Experience using and developing in applicable toolsets. 

Ability to interface with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements. 

Ability to work well with internal and external technology resources. 

Knowledge of test-driven development. 

Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components. 

Ability to complete complex bug fixes. 

Good oral and written communication skills.
