About the RoleSplunk is looking for enthusiastic and innovative Software Engineers to join our Splunk Observability team who will work on systems that empower our customers to detect and resolve their infrastructure and application issues quickly. 

 

You will collaborate closely with architects, product managers, and some of the industry's brightest minds to design and implement modern, scalable, reliable systems that serve as the backbone of Splunk Observability products. We are passionate about solving customers’ problems and building best-of-its-kind products, and you will help us win in this fast-growing market. 

 

ResponsibilitiesFollow the best software development practices and set the high engineering bar for the team by regularly leading design, code review, and test plan reviews.Incorporate excellence in reliability, scalability, and performance in the design of distributed systemsLead or own the design of new systems and drive the implementations.Identify improvement opportunities in areas of engineering excellence and operation excellence and make them a realityParticipate in on-call rotations, post-incident reviews, and other operational duties to ensure service delivery qualityDebug and provide solutions or fixes to customer-reported issues or requirements.Helps team estimate work across sprints and quartersContribute to growing new engineers through design & code review, tech talks, mentoring, and pair-programming.

 

RequirementsYou are passionate about building, observing, and operating distributed systems at scale in production.You understand the challenges and trade-offs to be made when building and deploying systems to production.You have a solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in operating systems, networks, data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and software designExcellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills, both verbal and writtenA demonstrated capability for creative thinking, intellectual and entrepreneurial explorationExperience developing, debugging, and performance tuning highly concurrent systemsAbility to lead complicated technical decisions and mentor other junior engineersSolid knowledge and production programming experience in at least one of Java/C#/GoExperience with test-driven development, developing different levels of automated tests, such as unit test, functional test, integration test, system test, or performance / load testExperience with 1 or more relational databases & NoSQL databases.Prior experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure and GCPBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related majors; 8+ years of relevant proven experience
