Position SummaryThis position offers an opportunity to play a significant role within Marathon Petroleum’s Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) product line by providing technical leadership on MPC’s RightAngle platform and enhancing and optimizing Back Office capabilities. This position is responsible for designing, developing, testing and maintaining high-quality technical solutions while enforcing software engineering and security best practices. This will involve analyzing business requirements, coding new application features, enhancing existing code, troubleshooting application issues, and configuring and customizing vendor-provided software. The ideal candidate will possess a background in full-stack Software Development, Microsoft Azure, DevSecOps practices, and working within an Agile product team. Prior experience developing and enhancing RightAngle is highly preferred. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, possess strong analytical, organizational and communication skills, and excel in a fast-paced environment. Because of the criticality of some systems and processes, duties will occasionally require the candidate to be available after-hours and/or weekends.

Key ResponsibilitiesEnhance and support the RightAngle platform, internal customizations, and integrations through development and maintenance of .NET and SQL code. Internally develop, or work with third-party vendors to develop, solutions per business requirements.Work closely with third-party vendors, sourcing partners, and other IT support teams to research and resolve technical issues proactively and provide status updates and recommendations to stakeholders, business partners, and peers.Execute a defined software engineering roadmap, contributing to the organization's engineering and technology strategy. Work to have expert knowledge of applications and capabilities for which the role is responsible.Develop recommendations for difficult or complex issues while considering the boarder impacts to the end-to-end value stream. Solve moderate to high complexity problems based on analysis of information under limited or no supervision.Identifies and recommends improvements to the software development lifecycle and best practices in agile engineering. Conducts demos of application features and designs features to support automated testability. Conducts research, design and prototyping and experience on a cross-functional team.Coordinate and participate in programming activities, including coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting, that deliver functional and performance improvements. Promote technical best practices, innovation and process improvements including coaching and mentoring software developers.Promotes a collaborative team environment and works closely with colleagues to achieve business objectives. Collaborates with Product Managers, Product Owners, and end users to translate requirements and solution architecture into design specifications and application features.Organizes the delivery of high-quality, innovative solutions or deliverables, setting effort estimates and continuously collaborating and updating the specifications, in line with user requirements.Coordinates and implements new architectures, standards, methods and logic for enterprise software in accordance with business strategies and specifications.Ensures proper documentation of software design and works with business partners to design and implement solutions to meet architecture standards.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related/equivalent experience is required5+ years of experience in application and software development is requiredDeep understanding and real-world experience as a full-stack developer, with a focus on the Microsoft technologies including C#, ASP.NET, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure, and related technologies is requiredUnderstanding of Agile development methodologies, software release management, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and DevSecOps principles and practices is preferredExperience with RightAngle ETRM solution and supported business processes is strongly preferredSkillsAgile Methodologies - Agile project management is an iterative approach to delivering a project throughout its life cycle, taking incremental steps towards the completion of a project.Application Security - Refers to the measures and practices implemented to protect software applications from security threats and vulnerabilities.Cloud Computing - Knowing how to manage cloud services, develop cloud applications and use cloud architecture to meet customer needs.Continuous Improvement - An ongoing effort to evaluate and improve products, services, or processes through incremental and breakthrough improvements.Database Management - The function of managing and maintaining database management systems (DBMS) software, designed to define, manipulate, retrieve and manage data in a database.Debugging - The process of finding and resolving bugs within computer programs, software, or systems.DevSecOps - A set of practices that automates the integration of security at every phase of the software development lifecycle, from initial design through integration, testing, deployment, and software delivery, with an aim towards shortening the systems development life cycle and pas well as continuous delivery and a security first approach.General Programming - Applies a computer language to communicate with computers using a set of instructions and to automate the execution of tasks.Log Monitoring - Logging and monitoring are crucial aspects of software development that involve capturing and analyzing information about a software system's behavior, performance, and errors.Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) - A process used by the software industry to design, develop and test high quality software.Software Testing - An investigation conducted to provide stakeholders with information about the quality of the software product or service under test.Version Control System - Software tool that helps engineers and other collaborators manage changes to source code, documents, and other files over time.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, related field or equivalent experience.
