Senior Software Engineer - Trust & Safety

User safety and platform integrity is critical to our business. Our customer’s success is our success. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in taking a proactive, highly scalable, and data-centric approach to enabling a safe and trustworthy experience for the users of our rapidly growing and increasingly interactive platform. You’ll fight against threats to our users, platform abuse, and other potentially risky and unwanted behaviors on our platform.

Our team covers a broad range of trust and safety related topics including software engineering, data science, user engagement, privacy, threat detection, incident response, and bridging gaps between security and the broader Datadog business. You will bring expertise in a few of these areas.

You’ll join a growing security team at an ideal time for making a big impact. The product is seeing very high growth, with the platform becoming more interactive and new products and features developed regularly.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds, and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

Have a direct impact on customers and their overall trust of our platform. Drive the technical roadmap in collaboration with your team, product management, and other engineering teams to align our work with company-wide security objectives. Mentor a team of 3+ software and security engineers, emphasizing engineering quality, resiliency, and delivery. Develop user-friendly UI components that enable users to strengthen the security of their account. Create metrics and measurements to better understand how users are interacting with our security-related features and controls. Have an opportunity to work across the stack, implementing both front-end and back-end code. Develop risk scoring algorithms to classify potentially risky behavior or activity on our platform. Work in a highly collaborative role, often engaging with engineering teams beyond security. Contribute to security operations efforts including threat detection and response. Participate in Datadog’s incident response efforts.

Who You Are:

Have 5+ years of software engineering experience, especially on teams building platform and user security features. An excellent communicator and collaborator, able to work effectively through complex technical problems with a diverse group of stakeholders. Prior experience working with product and design teams to deliver front-end features. Fluent in one or more modern coding languages (Python, Go, TypeScript, etc.). Comfortable working in a fast paced, high growth environment. Knowledgeable of abuse techniques in modern SaaS applications.

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
