Senior Software Maintenance Engineer - JBoss (Ireland, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic)

The Red Hat Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) team is looking for a Senior Software Maintenance Engineer to join us. In this role, you will provide an important level of technical assistance to ensure that our highly­ valued customers get the most out of our solutions. This position extends well beyond solution support as you will take on the role of trusted partner to our enterprise customers by offering developer-­to-­developer assistance for JBoss open­ source middleware software. You will work closely with junior and senior engineers and developers to write new code, fix and improve code, and provide highly technical solutions to support requests. Additionally, you will create patches, provide JBoss updates, and contribute ideas through participation in an open and collaborative team environment.

What you will do

Provide a high, detailed level of technical assistance to ensure that our customers get the most out of our JBoss productsEngage and collaborate with open source developers around the worldOffer developer-to-developer assistance for the JBoss Enterprise Middleware SuiteWork alongside in-house developers, write new code, fix & improve code, provide highly technical solutions and contribute to the JBoss & open source software communitiesAct as the technical point of contact person for a technology of your choice within the JBoss Product family.Improving product documentation and creating knowledge base articlesCreating patches, communication with engineering about features requested by customers, and working with the QE team.Advise customers on Jakarta JEE architectural design decisions and help them understand how to best use Red Hat products in their enterprise solutions by preparing P.O.C. (Proof Of Concept) based projects (as and when it is required).Work with other open source projects to help customers integrate Red Hat products with their applications.Flexible to work in shifts and weekends as well.

What you will bring

Good understanding of Core Java concepts and Jakarta JEE design patternsProfessional development experience in Jakarta JEE platform.Must have hands-on experience with application server technologies – Red Hat JBoss EAP/Wildfly/WebSphere/WebLogicMust have strong troubleshooting/debugging skills and a passion for problem solving and investigationAn ability and willingness to learn new open source middleware technologiesBE/B.Tech degree in engineering or computer science is preferred; equivalent experience within the enterprise IT sector will also be consideredVery clear and effective English communications skills (Verbal & Written)Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with customers, third party vendors and Red Hat associates

Nice to have

Development experience in frameworks like Hibernate/JPA and SpringOpenShiftDevelopment experience in Web Services (REST/SOAP)Good understanding of JTA TransactionsHands-on experience of Git and Maven
