Senior Software Quality Engineer - CoreOS
Red Hat Engineering is looking for a **Senior Software Quality Engineer** to join the **CoreOS team** with a focus on RHEL CoreOS and Fedora CoreOS container-optimized operating system spins. In this role, you’ll be part of a globally distributed team and will coordinate work with other software quality engineers, software engineers, product managers, product owners, management, partners and community members to write new features for a rapidly changing container orchestration space. You will develop and execute test automation against FCOS/RHCOS and its interactions with other products and projects within Red Hat’s portfolio. To do so successfully, you will learn to be an expert in the offering architectures, how they integrate with other solutions, and the ways they are used by our customers. Since container technology is still evolving, it’s not expected that every candidate will come in with the experience required to start complex testing scenarios on day one. This is a great opportunity to learn how to work in a fast paced environment. You’ll get to work on many emerging technologies, such as Ignition (https://github.com/coreos/ignition) , afterburn (https://github.com/coreos/afterburn) , bootc (https://github.com/containers/bootc) , bootupd (https://github.com/coreos/bootupd) and maybe even create some new ones. You’ll need to work independently because sometimes with these new technologies, documentation isn’t abundant but there are always team members around to help in our team’s highly collaborative environment. **Primary Job Responsibilities** + Contribute new development work and maintain existing services and infrastructure and co-designing the future CoreOS build pipeline based on Konflux based on Tekton. + Collaborate with others, both within an immediate team and with other teams within Red Hat + Develop, review, and maintain automated test scripts and test cases + Debug software problems and write clear bug reports + Provide timely, complete, and accurate testing status reports + Analyze, report, and track defects + Work with development teams to review test gaps and ascertain the appropriate test levels to confirm that both teams are working together to reduce an overlap **Required skills** + Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of professional experience or master's degree with 3+ years of professional experience + Expertise in programming languages like Python, bash + Solid understanding and experience with Linux environments and Kubernetes or other containers technology + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Good knowledge of operating systems, hardware , networking, and kernel concepts + Solid debugging, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills **The following are considered a plus:** + Experience of how Open Source and Free Software communities work + Ability to present to customers and stakeholders + RHCSA certification or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Containers \#LI-YB1 **About Red Hat** Red Hat (https://www.redhat.com/) is the world’s leading provider of enterprise open source (https://www.redhat.com/en/about/open-source) software solutions, using a community-powered approach to deliver high-performing Linux, cloud, container, and Kubernetes technologies.
