Job Description:   

The Project Engineer (PE) is a multi-disciplined engineer responsible for the technical aspects of the program. The PE has technical authority from Engineering Leadership to execute assigned programs along with the Program Manager (PM). This includes but is not limited to:

Planning and execution of program activitiesDocumenting and approval of program plansEnsuring life-cycle process adherenceRisk identification and managementCustomer and Senior Leadership interactionOverall program coordination during the program lifecycle

The individual Engineering Functional Task Leaders (Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Specialty Engineering, Logistic Engineering, Technical Publications, etc.) report to and take direction from the PE for the assigned program operations.

The PE manages the technical functions of the program through Project Work Authorizations (PWAs) as a joint effort with the PM. The PE coordinates with the Functional Managers in the utilization of Earned Value (EV) reporting to ensure consistency between the Functional and Program roll-up relative to performance against schedule and budgeted work scope.

The PE is also responsible for program technical performance that extends beyond the Engineering functions (such as Manufacturing and Hangar, Dock and Line (HD&L) to ensure technical compliance within the total operations activities. In addition, Project Engineers are the key technical interfaces to Customers and have the responsibility/opportunity to interact with Customers at every phase of the program lifecycle.

Job Qualification Requirements:  

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. An advanced technical degree is strongly preferred. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Required:

Seven years’ experience is performing in a Project Engineering or similar role.An active DoD Top Secret (SCI) Security Clearance with the ability to maintain, which requires U.S. Citizenship.Three (3) years of experience performing in a Project Engineering or similar technical leadership role. In lieu of project engineering experience, five (5) years of experience in one or more of the following disciplines may be considered (two or more preferred): Systems Engineering (design and integration); Aeronautical Engineering (electrical, structural, mechanical, stress, mass properties, aerodynamics, etc.); Software Engineering/Computer Science; Hardware Engineering

Strongly Desired:

Program planning, guidance, and engineering execution within scope, schedule, and budget.Broad understanding of engineering processes and policiesAircraft Integration, Test and Delivery experienceFAA Type Certification experienceLeadership Skills (i.e., Task Leader, IPT Leader and/or Functional Management)Executive Level Integration and Communication (to include internal and Customer stakeholders)
