Position Summary

The Senior Specialist, Research and Data Services  provides comprehensive research and Research and Data Services to consulting, practice area and business function staff.  Frequently works as part of case teams to facilitate research planning, information management, training, and capture of research experience.  The Senior Specialist may have specialized knowledge of resources in one of Bain’s Practice Areas. 

 

Core Responsibilities and Duties

Research  

Conducts research for local and regional case teams, Practice Areas and client development utilizing electronic, print and other resources as assigned under the guidance of a Lead, Manager or Senior ManagerProvides filtered and well organized research resultsMay participate as a member of an Industry Team supporting cases, responds to requests from client teams; however, should also be proficient in conducting research in all areas of interest to BainProactively works with Case Teams to understand the project context and specific information needsMay build industry and/or capability expertise by attending Practice Area meetings, industry conferences and regular reading of trade and internal publicationsSolicits feedback from internal clients 

Asset Building 

Participates in or leads asset building including contributions to knowledge sharing and other projects as assignedMay participate as an active member of an Industry TeamParticipates in ongoing product and service evaluations and resource development activities and participates in implementation as appropriateLeads scheduled business research and just-in-time training staff at all levels

Administrative

Tracks personal research requests including cost recovery informationParticipates in Research and Data Services marketing effortsProactively seeks opportunities to broaden and deepen skill set by participating in special projectsProvides ongoing support for basic asset-building activities including processing orders and new acquisitions, cataloging and serials check-in, end-user system updates, tracking circulation of materials from the collection and ongoing maintenance of print and other special collectionsProcesses invoices

Position Qualifications 

Degree in information science or business from an accredited university - or equivalent higher education degree3 – 6 years of experience conducting business research in a fast-paced consulting, financial services or other business setting or equivalent preferredExperience with Factiva, Thomson databases and other standard business research tools preferredTraining and presentation skillsFluent written and verbal communication skills in native language and English required
