ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on 9-day fortnight – DIDO to our Boddington Mine, located a short drive from the community of Boddington (10 minutes), Pinjarra (50 minutes) and the City of Mandurah (1 hour).

As the Senior Specialist Land Agreements is to coordinate mining agreements and approvals supporting the short term, medium term and tactical mine plans for the Worsley operation. Ensuring existing obligations and commitments associated with land access agreements and approvals are met.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

In conjunction with the Mine Development Planning Supt, negotiate land access agreements facilitating exploration and mining activities on neighbouring private land; including preparation of business justifications and negotiation strategies. In conjunction with the Mine Development Planning Supt develop and manage the annual Land Access and Buffer Management strategy, supporting integrated mine plans and operational buffer management. Support delivery of enabling activities to support integrated mine plans through interaction with approvals, heritage, engineering and project teams. Ensure Land Access activities are managed in accordance with South32 internal standards and governance, and relevant legislation. Provide advice regarding relevant mining legislation, including the Worsley State Agreement, Mining Act, relevant Mining Act approvals and commercial Agreements as they support the Worsley Mining Operation. Support development of Land Management budgets and forecasts for existing and future land access obligations and activities.

 

 

ABOUT YOU

Understand and interpret property and land related legislation, especially Mineral Titles Legislation  Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster alignment and collaboration between multi-disciplinary technical teams as well as sub-functions. Relationship building skills, demonstrated empathy, emotional intelligence and cross-cultural effectiveness with the ability to achieve consensus and build alignment cooperatively. Ability to track and manage legal and commercial obligations.

 

Qualifications for this position are: 

Bachelor’s degree in business, Commerce, Engineering, Geoscience or Science or similar. Proven capability in developing business cases, undertaking trade off analysis, negotiating, and delivering commercial outcomes. Understanding and interpretation of legal documents, especially Land Access Agreements, Mineral Title related agreements and State Agreements
