Senior Staff Actuary

Job Summary

Supports and often leads initiatives related to the development, pricing, ongoing management, valuation, and/or reporting of Thrivent’s products. Supports and often leads initiatives related to risk evaluation/management and other corporate reporting and analysis projects. Applies business acumen and extensive actuarial experience to the financial management and product management of Thrivent, helping to deliver competitive products while also keeping the company financially sound.

This role will be responsible for the product pricing functions of Thrivent’s Life or Annuity products. This includes actuarial modeling for both new product development and inforce product management. This role collaborates with other actuarial teams, such as corporate actuarial, to maintain pricing assumptions within the actuarial product models.

         

          

Job Responsibilities and Duties

Supports and sometimes leads a range of complex and challenging initiatives related to the development, pricing, ongoing management, valuation, and/or reporting of Thrivent's products.Designs, develops, and maintains analytical models, using a variety of corporate software tools.Influences and leads development of appropriate assumptions and methods to use in models.Performs and/or leads testing, analysis, and evaluation of model results, and identifies additional analysis needed.Applies actuarial principles commensurate with the Fellow of Society of Actuaries certification.Occasionally provides guidance and direction to less experienced staff members on some assignments.Acts as a guardian of the company's financial strength while also striving to increase the value we are able to deliver to members.Supervise actuarial interns and students as necessary.Models Thrivent’s leadership competencies – Courage, collaboration, and commitment by demonstrating resiliency, working together to make the best decisions, and holding themselves and other accountable.Supports and/or develops an environment in which Thrivent employees and colleagues are focused on continuous improvement, exceptional employee engagement, and an unwavering commitment to our clients. Job Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree.FSA & MAAA.4 years’ experience.Considerable industry and professional knowledge, extensive in areas of expertise.History of execution of successful actuarial projects.

Preferred:

Life pricing or annuity pricing experience preferred.

This position allows a flexible work arrangement meaning you may work on-site and/or remotely from the Minneapolis, MN area.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $136,721.00 - $184,976.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
