The Position
We are looking for a hardworking Applications Scientist who is keen to participate in the development of ground breaking technology applied to electron microscopes, focused ion beams and related analytical techniques.
The Application Scientist works at the intersection of the development, sales support, and the scientific community. This person collaborates with Applications, Technology, Systems and Software groups to ensure that product requirements are well understood, developed, implemented, and thoroughly tested. Successful Applications Engineer develops detailed knowledge about the application of our systems and understands the implications of using and testing software when sophisticated hardware interactions are at stake.
The Application Scientist will provide customer and market feedback to Product Marketing Managers, Product Execution Managers, and development team; participates in defining the needs for new product development; conducts customer demonstrations and jobs (e.g. for concept-proof of new applications); participate in technical discussions and collaborate on applications training with the customers.

Networks with senior internal and external personnel in the respective areas of expertise, interacts with supervisors, group leaders, customers, and peers.Acts as an advisor to peers and project members to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems. Ensures that activities are carried out according to the principle of “Customer focus in all that we do”.The ability to set and build the right working climate. Follow work safety, fire safety, hygiene of work and other regulatory standards.Other duties as assigned.Specific responsibilities
Perform system (SW, applications, instrument) testing and evaluation, provide test plans and consolidated test reports.Feed R&D team, Product groups with information and customer feedback. Translate customer needs into workable solutions and technical specifications. Recommend technical direction for potential applications or use of products consistent with customer requirements and feasibility.Prepare and perform demos, customer jobs, customer training. Handle customer samples, data, and related information. Act as ‘Equipment Owner’: keep equipment in job-ready condition and report the problems.Develop Best Practice Documents (BPDs) for reproducible distribution of application implementation and training of customers by applications specialists. Deliver publications (scientific papers, conference abstracts, application notes).Deliver groundbreaking, specific marketing and sales collateral to the Product Marketing group for incorporation into marketing, sales training, and sales material.Maintain and expand pool of electron microscopy solution expertise (technology, methodology) for material science or semiconductor market.Collaborate on projects with external partners.Follow the effective documents IMS, EMS and managing documentations.The Requirements
This position is ideal for a scientist with a background in Focused ion beams (FIB) and related analytical techniques, namely Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and Electron backscatter Diffraction (EBSD). The position is appropriate for a candidate with 7+ years of proven experience in a relevant commercial/research/production establishment with recent experience applying microscopy technology.The successful candidate will possess MSc or PhD in Material Science, Physics, Engineering or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills.Able to work independently as well as with cross - functional and cross - cultural teams.Knowledge of advanced technology and diagnostics as well as operational optimization experience of analytical equipment; specifically, SEM, FIB, EBSD and related analytical techniques.Shown experience with using software in complex products with extensive hardware interactions.Strong communicative skills (both verbal and written), result oriented, work in dynamic environment.Ability to write (scientific) papers and other publications.Ability to travel both domestically as well as internationally and possession of a valid passport.Language skills: English, willing to learn Czech.Candidates are requested to include a letter of motivation as part of their application.
