Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Senior Staff Electronics Engineer – Radar Engineer to our team in Rancho Bernardo, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization.
The selected engineer will perform as a member of an interdisciplinary team on a key effort to develop novel and innovative solutions to advanced technical problems. The successful engineer will contribute to the overall development of radar subsystems, including System Architecture/Concept Development, Candidate Technology Trade Studies, Requirements Development and Derivation, Algorithm Development, Performance Analysis, Data Analysis, and work with cross-disciplinary hardware, software, and firmware teams.
The candidate will support the radar integration team and will be responsible for development and implementation of new and existing high fidelity, physics-based radar system performance models, complex algorithms, threat models, and command & control models. This role may also include developing / analyzing AESA arrays, modeling array performance, and predicting performance as installed on airborne platform.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Support development and integration of radar subsystems and components to meet platform mission objectivesRequirements development, analysis, maturation, and implementation translating customer requirements into hardware and software specificationsPerforming functional and performance analysesDevelopment of mathematical algorithms for mode/sensor implementationDevelop software to model behavior of systems in real-time and constructive simulations of sensors and other platformsSolicit input from various stakeholders, synthesize data, and communicate results to various levels of leadership within the organizationPerform mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance through the Systems Engineering “V”.Ensure performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements and assess operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environmentsGuiding the team through development/implementation activities.The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. This position requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 14 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 9 years of related engineering experience.Experience with the following:Signals processingRadar systemsElectronics systems performance analysis, test or integrationMATLAB, C/C++, Python, or related languagesKnowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation, and interface control documentationYour ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company, and the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.Preferred Qualifications:

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
