Senior Staff Engineer - Frontend (REMOTE)

Position Summary:

Geico is seeking an accomplished Senior Staff Engineer with expertise in building high-performance, scalable, and maintainable frontend applications, especially optimize and resolve performance issues in our commercial insurance tech platforms. As a key member of our engineering team, you will drive technical strategy and execution to enhance the platform's ability to meet growing business demands. Position Description:

Our Senior Staff Engineer works with our Manager, Distinguished and Sr. Engineers to innovate and build new systems, improve, and enhance existing systems and identify new opportunities to apply your knowledge to solve critical problems. You will lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap that will increase the velocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of front-end and back-end technologies and will take a hands-on approach to drive improvements in system performance, scalability, and reliability. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement solutions that enhance our platform’s ability to meet growing business demands.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and implement high-performance frontend applications using best-in-class tools and technologies (e.g., Angular, React, D3)Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement solutions that enhance our platform's ability to meet growing business demandsLead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap that drives innovation and improvement in system performance, scalability, and reliabilityCommunicate effectively with external departments (e.g., PM, Marketing, Sales, Customer Services) regarding their expectations, new projects/features, technical challenges, and plan into future sprintsConduct design reviews, code reviews, and provide architect designs for major features

Qualifications:

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

Technical Skills:

8+ years of experience in frontend development with a focus on modern web technologies (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js)Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and related technologiesExperience with front-end build tools such as Webpack, Rollup, or ParcelExperience with popular backend technologies, such as micro-service, NodeJS/Python/JavaExperience with SQL and NoSQL databaseExperience with Kubernetes, Docker, Selenium, Playwright etc

Leadership Experience:

5+ years of experience leading large-scale frontend projects or teamsProven track record of successfully managing cross-functional teams and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlinesExperience with agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum)

Soft Skills:

Annual Salary

$130,000.00 - $260,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
