Senior Staff Software Architect
Job Description SummaryAs a Senior Architect, you will drive the Maternal Infant Care (MIC) firmware strategies and applications in wireless technologies and IoMT. Wireless technologies include WiFi, BLE, NFC, and Medical Body Area Networks. This role requires a strategic understanding of the patient/customer needs, product technology and intellectual property of GE Healthcare as well as our competitors. This role would be responsible for designing, developing and testing Embedded Software (Firmware), IoMT devices, wireless communication of critical patient vital information in real time, cross-functional collaboration and SW integration. Working experience with AGILE and SCRUM approach is added advantage.

Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesDrive the MIC wireless and IoMT software/firmware roadmap, technology planning and realization.Support the next gen software platform and technology adoption strategy for the upcoming NPI’s in the MIC business.Conceptualize, lead and deliver Advanced Technology Development (ATD) projects to enable risk-free adoption of new technology and software components in the MIC NPIs.Multi-generation segment technology planning and rationalization experience with an excellent understanding of product system architecture(s), platforms and core technologies.Support evolution and maintenance of the high-level architecture of MIC products. Constantly strive to evolve the product architecture and improve its maturity levels, modularity and flexibility.Drive design reviews, define interfaces between code modules, and applies state-of-the-art technology to designs.Gather and analyze technical specifications to fully understand the requirements and ensure that a high-quality solution is produced.Active participation/lead critical installed base issue resolution for the MIC software across the product family.Influence strategic development of global product roadmaps and product features suite with a focus on technical differentiation that addresses key customer needs.Interacting with global teams to develop consistent and synergized software for platforms. Actively provide inputs to improve established and new platforms. Maintain code quality through best practices, unit testing and code quality automation.Demonstrate the ability to make informed technology choices after due diligence and impact assessment.Be an expert in assessing application performance and optimizing/improving it through design and best coding practice.Be responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure.Designing and building strong testing infrastructure to minimize dependency on hardware availability.Will need to be onsite 1-3x a week in Waukesha, WI Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Required QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Electronics/Computer science Engineering or equivalent.15+ years’ experience in embedded/IoT device firmware/software development for complex system and architecture.Demonstrated experience on global product releases throughout the entire NPI cycle leading teams in the areas of embedded / IoT devices.Good understanding of OS (RTOS, Embedded Linux) concepts including tasks, thread and other Kernel behavior.Experience in building and maintaining that leverages OOD (Object Oriented Design), design patterns and SOLID design principles.Demonstrated experience of firmware development of wireless systems, e.g., WiFi, BT, BLE, NFCStrong expertise in programming languages like C, C++, MATLAB. Knowledge of software development lifecycle, and expertise with tools to help in software development.Expertise in independently developing and debugging embedded software designs in bare metal and with RTOSs and embedded Linux. Expertise in setting up software development infrastructure, including source control (Git based tools) and quality control tools (Coverity, and/or other code analysis tools).Experience in working with ARM / Intel based microcontrollers and microprocessors.Healthcare Networking standards like IHE, HL7 and custom protocols

Desired SkillsExcellent communication, collaboration, judgment, organizational and problem-solving skills; technical, project and personnel at various levels in the organization Prior experience in guiding a small and medium sized teams in the delivery of complex embedded software designs.Strong knowledge of Agile software methodologies (XP, Scrum) Contributed in driving technical changes across a segment of productsStrong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, and lead the execution of programs.Experience in driving agile and lean methodologies in software development. Experience in promoting practices for developing software that is reliable and consistently meets design requirements.
