Ford is seeking an experienced automation professional with a passion for cars and technology, specifically the systems that keep us connected and entertained on the road. As a Test Automation Engineer focusing on Automotive In-Vehicle-Infotainment (IVI), you'll be a key player in ensuring the quality, stability, and performance of sophisticated in-car systems. You won't just be writing scripts, you'll be designing and building robust automation frameworks, leading efforts to integrate automation into development pipelines, and tackling the challenges of testing hardware-software integrated systems in a real-time, safety-critical environment. Your work will directly impact the user experience of future vehicles.

You'll have…

Bachelor’s degree or better in software engineering, computer science or a related field or equivalent experience. 5+ years of software development experience. Proven proficiency in at least one major programming or scripting language relevant to automation. Demonstrated experience in designing and building test automation frameworks or significantly enhancing existing ones. A strong grasp of software testing methodologies, different types of testing, and quality assurance processes. Experience working with version control systems, like Git. Familiarity with the concepts and tools used in CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, GitLab CI. Experience using bug tracking systems like Jira. A track record of successfully debugging complex software and system problems. Excellent problem-solving abilities and a sharp eye for detail. Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills – you can clearly explain technical concepts and work effectively across teams.

A Master's degree in software engineering, computer science or a related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience Experience testing automotive infotainment systems or other complex embedded systems. Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing or testing directly on physical automotive hardware or vehicles. Experience working with specific infotainment operating systems (like Android Automotive, Linux) or graphical user interface toolkits Experience with performance testing concepts and automating performance checks.

What you'll do...

Take the lead in architecting, designing, and implementing sophisticated and maintainable automated test frameworks tailored for automotive infotainment systems. Develop, execute, and maintain automated test cases, encompassing functional, integration, regression, and performance testing. Continuously enhance the automation framework by adding new capabilities, integrating with specialized automotive test hardware (like Hardware-in-the-Loop systems or test benches), and optimizing test execution speed and reliability. Integrate automated tests into Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to provide rapid feedback to development teams and improve release efficiency. Collaborate closely with software developers, manual testers, system engineers, and product owners to understand features, define testable requirements, and troubleshoot complex system-level issues. Contribute to the overall test automation strategy for infotainment, including tool selection and effort estimation for automation initiatives. Analyze test results, perform root cause analysis for failures, write clear and actionable bug reports, and track automation progress and coverage. Champion best practices in software development, including code quality, security, and performance optimization.
