Senior Strategy Manager, Large Excavation

The **Senior Strategy Manager of Business Development** role will be responsible to lead the development and implementation of growth opportunities supporting Caterpillar’s Large, Super Large and Ultra High Demolition Excavator business in the Excavation Division. This role will interface directly with leadership across the organization and Enterprise partners to help execute the Excavation growth strategy. The role will apply a growth mindset to the excavation business, supporting the achievement of our 2030 goals and beyond. Caterpillar's Excavation Division (part of the Construction Industries Segment) is responsible for the design and manufacture of tracked and wheeled excavators in sizes ranging from 11 to 100 metric tons, along with new technologies and Cat Work Tools. **What You’ll Do** + Support leadership in creating a strategy to identify, develop, and execute growth + Accountable for the development, evaluation, and execution of potential opportunities and leading the associated cross-functional efforts. + Direct support with strategy development and execution to the Large Excavator VP of Product. + Lead analysis of Industry opportunities, customer solutions development, including NMI and NPI. Works closely with business partners to define and prioritize these opportunities. + Manages projects working with senior consultants and business partners. **What You Have (Core Skills)** + **Customer Focus:** Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions. + **Data Gathering & Analysis:** Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment. + **Decision Making and Critical Thinking:** Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. + **Effective Communications:** Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. + **Negotiating:** Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner. + **Relationship Management:** Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers. + **Strategic Thinking:** Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization. + **Value Selling:** Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs. **Top Candidates Will Also Have** + Bachelor’s degree within Finance, Economics, Engineering, Marketing, or other related fields + Extensive financial experience, competitive analysis, or P&L ownership + Excellent business acumen, collaboration and leadership skills. + Ability to gather large amounts of data/facts and leverage technology to distill into clear message + Demonstrates initiative, sound business judgement, effective organization skills, and accountability in their work + Ability to resolve issues independently **Additional Details** + Work location: Peoria, IL or Dallas, TX + Caterpillar requires 5-days per week of onsite work (M-F) + Travel: 25-50% domestic and international + This is a global role which will require flexibility for frequent meetings in various time zones **Summary Pay Range:** $169,320.00 - $253,920.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
