Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the Atlanta core team under the NG- FL 100 sector at EXP. As a member of the team at the ground floor in developing a top five presence in the greater Atlanta market, your role is both seller and doer.  We anticipate as the team and the market matures, your time will be split 60/40 doing versus selling in the marketplace. Initially the splits could vary somewhat, and as you are aware, often billable work comes first and you find time to get the marketing and business development done as well. 

 

In a ground floor role EXP will support and encourage your engagement in the community; in professional and social activities centered around building the EPX brand in Atlanta.   We  use these efforts, much of them after normal hours, to develop our clients, our rolodex for potential staff and the buzz around our engagement and our reputation  in the industry.  We aim to be in the top 10 Atlanta Ea firms within 5 years and the top 5 within the next 7 years.  This means we are targeting $40 Million in revenues in 5 years, and over $100 Million in the next 7 years.  As a member of the core team, you will play a significant role in achieving these goals. 

 

EXP currently has work in Aviation, Transit, GDOT Highways and construction in the Atlanta market. The  team, you will join includes is Buildings Sector, but we anticipate there will be opportunities for pedestrian and highway bridge design as well based on current workload and areas for growth.

 

We are seeking a talented Senior Structural Engineer to join the Team, with the potential to grow and expand the Atlanta team and ultimately to lead that team once you have some more experience.  You will be supported by the structural team within NG-Florida 100 led by me, and other sectors active in the Atlanta market. The Building Structures group provides structural engineering expertise related to the design of new and rehabilitated structures throughout the country.

 

The successful candidate will be able to work both independently, and as a member of a diverse team in-house team of professionals and subconsultants throughout the country in all disciplines. The ideal candidate will not only provide technical expertise in the execution of projects but be able to provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members.

 

The chosen candidate should expect engagement in a variety of project types. Major market sectors include but are not limited to mission critical buildings, aviation, light passenger rail, and commercial building design. 

 

What a day at EXP has in store for you

Initially being a member of, and eventually leading and developing a team of structural engineers in Atlanta that serves clients across all EXP markets with a focus on Buildings’ design. Predicting and planning current and future resources, including strategic membership growth, while developing and mentoring the team. Design and management of large, complex, long-term projects (technical or business) while coordinating with other disciplines and external partners within tight time and budget constraints. Attending meetings and communicating with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues. Business development interests and capabilities, experience with putting fees and proposals together, established network within the engineering and architecture industry. Responsible and accountable for client relations (internal and/or external). Represents EXP in the industry at high levels nationally and internationally, e.g. think tanks, standard committees and international conferences.

 

 

What your experience looks like

Minimum 10 years of experience related to the design of building structures is preferred. Variation in experience (up or down) will be considered for the ideal candidate. Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership. Professional Engineering licensure is required. Licensure as a Structural Engineer via structural specific examination is preferred. Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is strongly preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering w/ an emphasis on structures is considered a minimum requirement.
