Senior Structural Engineer - Detroit, Michigan We are hiring a Senior Structural Professional Engineer for a Water Resources Team in Detroit, MI, that supports Infrastructure Improvement projects across the country. This position is open because this team has a number of different Water Treatment Plant projects starting, including 2 large $250 Million projects in the Midwest. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of expertise within Structural Concrete projects, specifically within Water/Wastewater projects, and would have a Michigan-based PE License. This team can offer 100% remote setup for this role, with possible in-person training to start. Job Responsibilities: + Perform Structural analysis and design of heavy civil and underground structures including concrete storage tanks, wastewater treatment facilities, tunnels and drop shafts, retaining walls, braced excavations, foundations, building wall systems, and utility structures + Provide technical planning, design and construction support on various wet weather projects that may include combined sewer overflow, collection system, pump station, water, stormwater, and/or other wastewater projects + Design for various materials including reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, steel, aluminum, masonry and FRP + Prepare engineering calculations and supporting analysis of alternatives + Prepare structural related construction plans and technical specifications + Utilize various design software to complete structural analysis + Conduct research and development for projects + Function as Task Manager to assist Project Manager + Coordinate structural design function with Senior Engineers and Project Managers + Work with multi-discipline engineering teams + Prepare design cost estimates + Monitor task budget and progress + Conduct on-site inspections as needed + Prepare and review scope, budget and schedule for project tasks + Attend various meetings including pre-design, plan review, pre-construction, staff, etc. + Assist with proposals, marketing, project reports and technical presentations Job Requirements: + Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering + PE license (ideally from Michigan but open to other states) + 10+ years of relevant Structural, Infrastructure, or Water/Wastewater experience + Experience with ACI 350, ACI 318, AISC Steel Manual, and the International Building Code + Foundation experience (IE: Mat Foundations, Driven Piles, Auger-Cast Piles, Caissons, Soil/Rock Anchors) + Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Structural/Foundation Design software + Excellent technical Writing, Organizational, and Communication skills + Ability to stay self-motivated and work well with others Preferred Experience (Not Required): + Experience with Soil and Rock Mechanics and the related Design + Experience working in or for a Water Resources Department + Project Management experience Additional Information: + This is a full-service Consulting Firm with very diversified projects. + The company offers work-life balance with flexible work hours and low turnover. + This team prioritizes customized approaches to projects, using a collaborative style to deliver for clients. + This company proactively seeks out new technologies or technology enhancements to positively impact their clients and communities. + This company is employee-owned, and works to cultivate an ownership mindset and approach within its staff.
