Be our next Senior Structural Engineer/ Project Manager for our St Louis, Missouri office within the Infrastructure & Transportation business practice.

 

Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of the Midwest Bridge Department Manager with a focus on highway, railway and transit structures including bridge, culverts and retaining walls. Project types will be diverse and include repair, rehabilitation and new construction for clients such as MoDOT, IDOT, Metro and local agencies within Missouri and Illinois.

 
What a day at EXP has in store for you

Lead the structural design for all project types, including complex bridge designs. Lead the planning and schematic/geometric layout of new structures. Perform analysis and design calculations according to the applicable design codes; use computer programs as appropriate. Prepare plan drawings and details, construction specifications and design calculations. Lead or perform on-site inspection, analysis, and condition assessment of existing structures. Prepare cost estimates, perform life cycle cost analysis and load rating calculations. Perform construction administration functions including site visits, review of shop drawings and answering field related inquiries. Supervise and direct staff engineers and technicians to meet project deadlines as well as scope and budget requirements. Assist project managers with scoping and budgeting for structural work and be responsible for quality assurance of deliverables. Manage and lead the delivery of structural focused projects including responsibility to deliver the required scope on time and within budget. Work with Practice Leader to market clients and prepare proposals.

 

The Skills, Knowledge and Abilities We Seek

10+ years progressively responsible relevant experience BS in Civil Engineering – Structures track required, MS preferred Licensed PE in Missouri required, licensed PE and SE in Illinois preferred but not required Bridge Inspection experience, including NBIS certification, preferred but not required Prior experience with complex projects preferred Knowledge of bridge analysis, design and detailing as it pertains to MoDOT and IDOT Experience with a variety of structural analysis software preferred Experience with FEM preferred but not required Proficient with Bentley’s MicroStation® software required; 3D experience preferred but not required Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills and ability to direct and supervise staff engineers and technicians Participation in professional organizations and represent EXP within the industry is desired
