Senior Student Services Generalist / Graduate Program Coordinator

Graduate Student Funding

Work with Graduate Program Director and Grants Administrator to plan out and process student funding each term (3 times per year).

Work with Graduate Program Director to plan out Graduate Teaching Assistantships for Fall and Spring terms.

Coordinate student training grant applications each Spring with SOM GPO.

Student Recruiting/ Admissions

Respond to student inquiries about the Graduate Program.

Discuss qualified students with program director and admissions committee after pre-screening all applications.

Plan student visits and activities during recruitment weekends, includes: travel, lodging, faculty interview schedules, and student hosts.

Be available during recruitment weekends to assist with problems and to help facilitate the process.

Collect interview evaluations, prepare admission offer letters.

Student Academic Progress

Track student enrollment to ensure requirements are met.

Inform students and faculty of changes in processes.

Career Services including dissemination of information about available funding programs for graduate students, post doc opportunities, etc.

Council students on course work, both required and elective classes, rotations, etc.

Assist student with applying for internal and external awards and fellowships.

Provide students with letters of support, proof of employment, proof of enrollment for housing or visa requirements.

Academic Affairs

Work with Graduate Programs Office and the School of Engineering to resolve problems and registration blocks.

Coordinate lab rotation schedule for first years.

Schedule and announce dissertation defenses.

Track academic progress for meeting programmatic milestones such as area papers, thesis proposal defense, and final dissertation defense.

Review and approve graduation paperwork.

Facilitate annual BME award nomination and celebration event.

Maintain Graduate Student Handbook (updated annually).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
Experience: At least five years of experience.
Licensure: None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
