Kimley-Horn's Orlando, FL office is seeking a Substation Physical Engineering with 6+ years of experience to join our diverse and fast paced organization. This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities Perform conceptual and detailed HV and MV Substation Physical/Electrical design for utilities/substations (including basic layout, electrical arrangement, one line, three-line drawings, plan-section, grounding, AC and DC system drawings)Perform engineering studies and calculations including:Conduit fillBusGroundingLightning ProtectionIlluminationFacility Ratings (FAC)Assume the role of technical lead on projects with limited guidanceCreate and review bill of materials for substation physical projectsAssist with developing and implementing policies, processes, procedures, standards, and technical guidance, as required, to continually improve the engineering capability within the practicePlan and lead client meetings (or meeting sections) relating to physical design, as requiredSupport the preparation of project proposals and tender presentationsPerform Quality Control reviews on substation physical packagesProvide support for continued professional development of less experienced engineers in team, including technical guidance, and recommending training needs to the group Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited engineering programHolds an active PE license in the United StatesEnjoys working in a fast-paced environment on multiple projectsProficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD6+ years of direct substation physical design experience.Experience with grounding studies/lightning protection and lighting studiesWorking knowledge of protection and control designExperience with bus calculationsExperience with WinIGS or CDEGS Why Kimley-Horn?At Kimley-Horn, we do things differently.
