Supervisor’s Title: Superintendent, E&I
Position Summary The Sr Supervisor E&I is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the smooth operation of the ilmenite smelter plant's electrical and instrumentation systems. The role includes overseeing electrical safety, maintaining substations, generators, pumps, and plant instrumentation, and supervising a team of technicians to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
Position Specifications Education & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering Experience & Skills Required Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance. Strong troubleshooting skills for major system failures and equipment malfunctions. Knowledge of high-voltage (HV) systems and protection mechanisms. Excellent knowledge of motors, MCCs, and electrical equipment. Experience with ABB drives and electrical safety standards. Strong expertise in weigh scales, belt scales, and load cells. Advanced knowledge of plant instrumentation and fault-finding techniques. Ability to interpret electrical wiring diagrams and logic. Experience with variable speed drives and SIMOCODE. Expertise in control valve types, pneumatic networks, and troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of maintenance and selection of MCC components, VSDs, cabling, and lighting. Proficiency in analyzer selection, calibration, and troubleshooting (e.g., CO, O2 analyzers). Industry Experience Heavy industry experience preferred, particularly in steel or smelting plants. Electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting. Compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Maintain and repair HV and LV substations. Oversee the maintenance of all electrical equipment and instrumentation. Maintain generators and emergency equipment. Ensure ABB drive systems are maintained and optimized. Ensure all contracted services comply with company policies and procedures. Perform calibration of scales and weight measurement instruments. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment failures. Respond to and troubleshoot process failures to ensure minimal downtime. Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships. Provide technical guidance to the Superintendent and Technicians. Prepare and submit weekly and monthly maintenance reports. Perform standby duties as per the assigned schedule. Conduct safety audits and ensure compliance with all safety regulations. Review and optimize preventive maintenance (PM) plans for E&I equipment. Develop and manage spare parts inventory and procurement strategies. Reporting Structure Reports to the Superintendent, E&I, and supervises a team of electrical and instrumentation technicians.
