Responsibilities

The Supply Chain Engineer collaborates with internal customers, SCM leadership, and suppliers utilizing engineering and continuous improvement expertise to participate in the design and deployment of processes and systems to improve supply chain quality and productivity and reduce total cost. Leverages quantitative and qualitative techniques to identify improvement opportunities and lead efforts to design, analyze, implement, and improve systems of people, processes, and technology. Works with Supply Chain and customer management to define methods that ensure supplier products and services conform to regulatory requirements and Mayo Clinic quality standards. Partners with customer quality organizations to ensure processes are developed to manage and improve all aspects of product quality. Works with Senior or Principle Supply Chain Engineers or Supply Chain leadership to perform supply chain capacity planning, labor planning, facility design, and selection and integration of material storage and handling equipment and associated systems. Trains personnel how to use lean tools, and process improvement techniques, to identify waste and reduce costs. Participates in efforts to identify, develop, deliver key performance indicators (KPI’s) and works with stakeholders to find and understand variation, identify opportunities, and drive improvements. Performs cost benefit analysis to determine the return of investment (ROI) of capital expenditures and project initiatives and influences leadership to invest in improvements. Participates in efforts with SCM and customer leadership in the development of business strategy and planning, SCM service line development, business process engineering, and business transformation.



Qualifications

Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Industrial and Operations Engineering or related engineering, operations, or technical field with at least 2 years of experience to include expertise in several of the following areas: consulting/advising, continuous improvement, operations analysis, workflow analysis, staffing analysis, process engineering, systems analysis, leadership & facilitation, team building, and project management or a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with at least 4 years relevant experience.

Proven ability to successfully execute projects of limited to moderate complexity. Understanding of the healthcare industry preferred. Proficiency in use of office and project simulation, optimization and visualization tools (MS Excel, Word, Visio, and other process modeling and mapping, statistical, analytical, and data visualization). Ability to gather and document project based functional and business requirements. Knowledge and demonstrated use of management and systems engineering, applied analytics, operations research, as well as implementation and execution methods and tools. Proven ability to work as part of a team with internal and external stakeholders including mid-levels of organization leadership. Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills. Proficient in utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement tools and methods. Proficient in defining and effectively and efficiently leading, managing, and executing projects to include required change management for staff members, processes, and systems. Proficient in using problem solving and decision-making methods to understand root cause and define robust and sustainable solutions. Demonstrated critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to influence all levels of leadership, are required. Proficient in the use of statistical and data visualization tools. Demonstrated ability to teach others in both 1:1 and group settings. Willingness to travel regionally, nationally, and/or internationally. Preferred - Lean/Six Sigma Certification or industry equivalent. Preferred – Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) Certification.

Demonstrated abilities in business process improvement, innovation and planning. Experience building Analytics with advanced knowledge of SQL.Preference will be given to candidates with experience using Alteryx, Tableau, R Studio, Python or similar tools. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.Advanced knowledge of AWS cloud based computing environment and microservices (including SNS, Lambda, Amplify, API Gateway, S3, Athena)
