Background

Are you passionate about helping clients to leverage technology solutions to accelerate their ESG programs? Do you have a strong understanding of carbon emissions modelling and ESG reporting? Are you passionate about enabling ESG transformation by leveraging the power of data? If the answer to these questions is “yes” then we would love to talk with you about a strategic role on Cognizant’s growing Sustainability Team.

As a member of Cognizant’s rapidly growing Sustainability Practice you will work on a team of industry-leading advisors that help Fortune 500 clients to leverage technology to more frequently and more accurately track the progress toward their ESG commitments.

Responsibilities Lead client-facing conversations and develop strategies focused on: ESG metric characterization, carbon emission management strategy, digital technology solutions for ESG KPI management, and decarbonization strategy development. Engage in business and data strategy projects as a senior sustainability expert, examining key potential sustainability strategies and opportunities across an array of client sustainability program maturity levels. This will require adaptability and an ability to identify with the client where they stand to set an attainable sustainability roadmap. Partner with ESG leaders to identify opportunities for technology-based solutions to unlock new business insights. Partner with other internal and external team members on highly strategic ESG programs. Encourage forward thinking solutions and a collaborative communication environment to achieve business buy in. Support sales and business development teams in formulating value propositions around ways in which digital technologies can advance clients’ ESG programs. Partner with sustainability team to create accelerators and thought leadership pieces that Cognizant can bring to client engagements. Leverage your expertise to advise clients in the retail, consumer goods, and manufacturing industries.

Qualifications

· >7 years professional experience working in the sustainability space with Fortune 500 companies.

BS or MS in a scientific, mathematical or engineering domain with a focus on sustainability.

· Experience in carbon emissions accounting (GHG protocol) for large corporations and translating them to reports and emissions reduction strategies.

· Familiarity with CSO sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g. GRI, SASB, TCFD, etc.).

· Analytical mindset with hands-on experience having used industry leading ESG technology solutions (e.g. IBM Envizi, Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability, Persefoni, Salesforce Net Zero Cloud, Sphera, Watershed)

· Client focused, detail-oriented, organized and independent thinker that with insights on upcoming ESG legislation, industry and innovation.

· Exceptional listening, written and verbal communication skills across organizational levels.

· Previous experience in a consulting or advisory role is preferred.

· Travel expectations: 20%.
