Job Description

As an IT System Manager at Micron Technology, you will be held responsible for the health and value of one or more shared services for your site and global service area. Expectations include providing point of global contact. You will also be responsible for the functions related to the definition and execution of project plans including leading team meetings with project manager or regional manager. you will support the acquisition, installation, maintenance, and administration of Micron’s core computing environment (servers, storage, operating systems and infrastructure) with global team. These systems are host platforms for Micron’s management, file, print, database, remote access, backup/restore and application (client/server) systems. System Managers specialize in hardware and operating system support, user support, account and permission management, and the performance management, security, and tuning of systems. Proposes and implements systems enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system. Monitors usage and performance. Trains personnel on system usage. You will work with Micron’s Business Units to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements. You will be expected to suggest, promote and leverage published standards to minimize environment complexity and ensure regulatory as well as license compliance.

Responsibilities

Define, design, and implement core system hardware and operating system solutions.Maintain systems.Support day-to-day operations and provide customer support.Ensure the operational health (Security, Availability, Performance, Interoperability and Reliability) of Micron’s core computing resources.Continually work to improve operations.Provide system security and access.Evolve the computing environment to meet future demands.Act as a lead and liaison between IT and Micron internal customers to meet the internal customers’ needs, understand issues and communicate status, as well as communicate IT roadmaps and project status with customers.Collaborate with Global IT Eng team, Infrastructure team and engineering teams for cross regions support.

Experience and Requirements

In-depth knowledge of Linux and Windows Server environments.Proficiency with platforms like Nutanix, VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, KVM, and XenServer.Strong understanding of network configuration, VLANs, firewalls, and security protocols.Ability to secure virtual environments against threats and vulnerabilities.Knowledge of Network Attached Storage (NAS).Experience with storage optimization and management tools.Experience with system administration and troubleshooting.Understanding of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.Ability to integrate virtualization with cloud services.Skills in using monitoring tools to ensure optimal performance of virtual environments.Experience with performance tuning and capacity planning.Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve issues in virtual environments.Ability to think critically and implement effective solutions.Strong communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal), must be able to communicate in English and Japanese languages.Strong skills in decision-making, prioritization.Working with ITIL Processes and Business Process Management.Scripting (VB script, PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.) or other programming.A minimum of 8 years of experience in these relevant fields is required.

Education

Bachelors or Masters degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering.

Certificates

VCP/NCP-MCI, RHCE, MCSE equivalent or relevant
