The Senior Systems Configuration Engineer will be part of a dynamic team that provides IT support, maintenance, operations, logistics, and engineering services to help ensure the secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of INL/A Management Information Systems. This role will provide systems configuration engineering support to the Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics, and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of Aviation (INL/A) in support of their missions to sustain the national security and economic interests of our nation. Responsibilities Supervise, coordinate, and perform additions and changes to hardware and operating systems and attached devices, including investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new virtualized devices and software systems. Full life cycle system/software engineering to include requirements derivation, requirements analysis, hardware knowledge, metrics creation and analysis, systems architecture, and experience with integration and testing. Upkeep, configuration, and operation of computer systems and servers. Ensure that uptime, performance, resources, and security of the computers/servers/systems meet user requirements. Acquire, install, and/or upgrade computer components and software; provide routine automation; maintain security policies; troubleshoot; train or supervise staff; or offer technical support for projects. Provide direct support to Operations on virtualized components and operating systems including the evaluation of system utilization, monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems. Provide system design services and supervise and coordinate migrations. Review all technical solutions to ensure they meet customer requirements. Travel may be required for special projects. (CONUS, OCONUS) Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR Associate’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience. Education requirement may be substituted with 4+ years relevant experience. 10+ years of System Engineering experience. Secret clearance required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven experience in engineering and developing various IT hardware and software solutions, analyzing systems and requirements, experimenting and testing, performing vulnerability and security assessments, and developing and integrating complex IT solutions. Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience with JIRA, ITSM, CMDB, and similar tools is highly desired. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written, with solid presentation skills, both verbal and written.
