As a Senior Systems Engineer, Air Traffic Systems you will join a team of engineers who are innovating and supporting cutting-edge future Air Traffic Systems across the globe. Our Air Traffic Systems (ATS) Business Unit is developing the next generation Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Weather Data Reporting systems, GPS aided navigation, as well as providing support to existing fielded systems.
Systems Engineers provide technical support and clarification of requirements to software development teams & test personnel, perform system engineering analyses including trade studies, requirements definition and derivation, interface definition, and requirement verification and validation.
What You Will Do
+ You will work in a remote role type, however if local to an ATS site there may be opportunity for a hybrid schedule.
+ Lead several of Collins’ Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) programs by developing program execution plans, authoring strategies, leading a small team of individual contributors, and engaging directly with the customers by focusing on technical implementation and execution.
+ You will support definition of operations concepts and procedure planning / development, interface with personnel from other organizations, and represent the program at technical interchange meetings.
+ Actively participate in industry standards bodies, such as RTCA, ASTM, EUROCAE, to provide expertise, leadership, and company representation (including internal advocacy).
+ Develop technical solutions to customer needs, author concept of operations, lead technical proposal volume development, and produce white papers supportive of the business area.
+ Participate in proposal estimation and writing, including developing Basis of Estimates, RFI/RFP response preparation, and Customer engagements.
+ Work with Air Traffic Section Managers to ensure proper program and proposal staffing, including forecasting future staffing needs.
+ Maintain program financial controls, such as Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), budgeting, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
+ Utilize Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.) to create technical reports, spreadsheets, and project summaries for all organizational levels.
+ Support occasional travel to RTX and Customer locations, domestically and internationally, on an as-needed basis
Qualifications You Must Have:
+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience in System Engineering or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience in Systems Engineering or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering
+ U.S. Citizenship Required - Only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under these programs/contracts.
+ Must have experience working in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and Air Traffic Management (ATM) programs or projects
+ Prior experience leading and mentoring project teams and collaborating within a cross functional environment
+ Prior experience documenting and communicating systems engineering approaches, constraints, design, and rationale to diverse audiences
Qualifications We Prefer:
+ Experience with RTCA SC-228 and its developed standards (e.g., DO-365, DO-366, DO-381, etc.)
+ Experience collaborating with regulators, industry associations, and standardization bodies to ensure product alignment with industry developments, including a leadership role in an industry standards body
+ Aviation domain experience, such as a Part 91 and/or Part 107 license, air traffic controller training and/or license, etc.
+ Understanding of aviation weather phenomena, characterization, and forecasting
+ Experience as a Project Lead or Project Manager
+ Experience collaborating with hardware and systems engineering on multi-disciplinary issues.
+ Experience in systems design, implementation, testing, and integration

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
