Senior Systems Engineer – Peterborough, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid work arrangement available of 2 to 3 days per week in the office)
About the Opportunity
Westinghouse Electric Canada is a leading supplier of custom equipment, process systems and engineering consultant services for the Nuclear industry in Canada. The successful candidate will join an innovative team that supports Westinghouse’s mission to provide clean energy solutions.
What will you do?
Your day to day:
Lead the delivery of all technical elements of a project and operating as the system responsible Engineer Drive innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systems Provide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team Provide input and/or oversight to the development of conceptual/detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process. Prepare clear and concise technical specifications, design requirements, requirements verification, design and test plans, reports. Perform Design and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis. Support the manufacture, assembly and testing of systems, the resolution of manufacturing queries and assessment of non-conformances. Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. Interface with customers and outside vendors on issues and decisions surrounding the project execution. Support and development of system level interface drawings and documentation
What will you bring?
Who you are:
Licensed P.Eng. member of Professional Engineers Ontario (Mechanical, Mechatronic Engineering) 5+ years of relevant experience Experience in conceptual design development, design reviews and engineering change control processes Experience in the substantiation of custom equipment typically: steel structures, hoisting/lifting systems, mechanical drive/positioning systems and radiological shielded containers. Thorough understanding of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniques Experience working within 3D CAD systems such as Solid Works or Autodesk Inventor Knowledge and experience working to quality assurance programs with preference to CAN/CSA-N299 Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable leading meetings and delivering presentations Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment
Preferred:
Application of the relevant codes and standards applicable to the design of nuclear components and systems including specialized tooling and remote handling equipment Experience with software such as Solid Works, Autodesk Inventor and ANSYS(FEA) Experience in pressure retaining systems to CSA and ASME design codes Experience interfacing with customer representatives and also providing oversight of vendors Experience with technical project management
