KBR is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA.

The Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO) Science & Engineering Technical Support team is looking for an energetic and innovative Senior Systems Engineer to support the SSC Senior Engineer to focus on developing roadmaps and architectures aligned with future science and technology capabilities. The candidate shall provide systems engineering, architectures, and road mapping support to shape the future of the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Integration Office enterprise architecture. The candidate shall work side by side with SSC personnel in the performance of engineering tasks applying critical thinking concerning solutions to current threat environments for National Security Space (NSS) customers. The candidate shall provide active participation in critical technologies and defense industrial base management for NSS with experience in cross-domain architectures to meet the goal of SSIO’s cross-enterprise architecting and analysis efforts, providing high quality decision support products to the SSC and USSF senior decision makers for the space acquisition enterprise. The position is full time on-site at LA AFB.

Responsibilities include:

Provide Systems of Systems (SoS) Engineering Management functionality guided by the SSC Space Superiority Division - this will provide for the SSC Director’s technical oversight of all processes and products supporting the Space Defense MissionConduct SoS engineering analysis and provide the “control” of SSC engineering processes to ensure disciplined processes are in place and pedigreed and highly credible products are being generated within SSCPerform cross-mission area architecture development through the identification of potential synergies and efficiencies across multiple mission areas based off of existing roadmaps and System Program Directorate developed to-be architecturesEvaluate and characterize the known trade-space and ensure requirements mapping of newly developed enterprise-level cross-mission area architecturesDevelop candidate architectures that resolve common functions into common/enterprise solutions and reduce the cost associated with acquiring and maintaining multiple systems to achieve the same functionSupport defining strategic and operational-level strategy, developing associated architectures, and executing analysis processes to enable risk-informed investment decisions across the NSS enterprise to enable continued application of joint warfighter and National Command Authority effects in, through, and from spaceApply DoD acquisition and management policies, principles, and instructionsAnalyze space enterprise future mission requirements; create technology road mapping, and identify and plan transition opportunities into programs of record and commercializationPrepare draft briefings, reports, trip reports, or papers as appropriate to document meeting results, discussions or evaluation results

Qualifications:

Required:

Active DoD TOP SECRET with SCI eligibility Fifteen (15+) years’ experience in space systems and national security, with a focus in developing roadmaps and architectures that are clearly aligned with future science and technology capabilitiesUnderstanding of the government systems engineering process for NSS systemsExperience with creation of new NSS technology development projectsExperience with business-case evaluation for NSS vendorsActive participant within the past 12 months in at least one current critical systems engineering, architecting, or road mapping project applicable to NSS with experience in NSS standards Extensive experience in systems engineering, systems of systems engineering, family of systems engineering, architectures, and road mapping for NSS systemsExperience developing acquisition strategiesDemonstrated ability to lead and participate in requirements development as part of the systems engineering, architecting, road mapping, and integration processEffective interpersonal and team-building skills, to engage at both the engineer and management levels to build confidence and collaboration

Desired:

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), or equivalent Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)Experience with Space Superiority or Space Domain Awareness programs and their associated ground systems.MS Office SuiteTimeline tools & relational databases (similar in function to MS Project)Familiarity with model-based systems engineering tools, such as Cameo or Sparx EAExperience working with military and other government representatives, FFRDC (e.g. Aerospace) representatives, and SMC’s prime contractors, sub-contractors, and vendorsDOD program office experience with understanding of DoD acquisition process and compliance with government instructionsExperience with technical mentorship

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Basic Compensation: $175,000 - $200,000

This salary range is for California only

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
