Senior Data Protection Engineer (Commvault)

We are looking for a skilled Data Protection (Commvault) Engineer to join our team and elevate our backup and recovery management capabilities. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective backup, restore, and redundancy solutions for critical data with minimal downtime. Additionally, you will contribute to improving our disaster recovery capabilities across datacenters.
This position is located in Washington, DC or Richmond, VA and offers a schedule of 3 days onsite, 2 days remote.
Responsibilities
· Ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the Commvault environment, optimizing performance, and adhering to best practices.
· Troubleshoot complex backup and recovery issues, including networking, applications, servers, hardware, and appliance-related problems.
· Implement regular security updates and patches for backup application servers. Collaborate on the deployment of new Commvault software features.
· Ensure the provision of analytics, usage monitoring, capacity planning, and reporting within the Commvault environment.
· Work with operational teams to develop and support enterprise infrastructure processes, tools, and environments to ensure a timely response for backup and restoration.
Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited, not for profit university or college
· 5+ years of experience and strong knowledge of Commvault data protection.
· Experience with Command Center and CommCell Console
· Experience with PowerShell scripting for automating tasks.
· Track record of commitment to prior employers
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
· You must have strong knowledge of virtualization platforms, TCP/IP networking, Linux, Microsoft operating systems, MS Clustering, and database technologies such MS SQL
· Experience with Protecting large-scale virtualization (1000-5000+ VM) environments
· Working knowledge of SAN, Cloud storage systems, and tape libraries - EMC Isilon, NetApp, Pure Storage, Amazon s3 bucket
· Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, disaster recovery, software performance tuning,
· Deploying and configuring Media agents, VSAs, Deduplication engines, Commvault disaster recovery, and performing Commvault optimizations
· Experience creating and managing storage policies, schedule policies, Aux Copies, DDB backups.
· Experience designing and implementing permissions and role assignment within the Commvault environment
· Strong troubleshooting skills related to SQL backups, file server backups and tape backups
· Experience deploying software packages and maintenance releases for CommServe, media agents and VSAs.
· One or more Command Center or CommCell Console certifications

This position offers a base salary range of $117,800- $176,700 based on relevant skills and experience, and includes a generous benefits plan.
