Senior Systems Engineer Tier III
**Overview** SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER | TIER III (MIELS): Bowhead is seeking Senior Systems Engineers to support a customer in Stafford, VA. Support for the contract will consist of program management; logistics; asset management; engineering; customer service; research and development of new capabilities; test and evaluation; manpower, training, and personnel; new equipment fielding and training; financial management; information assurance; cybersecurity; and 24X7 enterprise services operations and sustainment. **Responsibilities** + Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for complex system issues both on prem and in the cloud. + Resolve escalated technical problems that Tier I and Tier II support teams are unable to solve. + Administer, configure, and maintain complex systems, including servers, networks, and databases. + Perform in-depth diagnostics and analysis to identify root causes of issues across systems and applications. + Manage and maintain virtualized environments, including VMware or Hyper-V platforms. + Implement and manage security measures to comply with DoD/IC policies and regulations. + Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, and hardware for critical infrastructure. + Develop and implement automation tools to streamline system administration tasks. + Perform regular system performance tuning and capacity planning to ensure optimal performance. + Oversee and support system backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures. + Coordinate system upgrades, patches, and maintenance to minimize downtime and risk. + Collaborate with network engineers, developers, and other teams to troubleshoot and resolve cross-functional issues. + Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. + Mentor and provide guidance to Tier I and Tier II staff on complex technical issues. + Implement and manage system monitoring tools to proactively detect and resolve issues. + Assist with evaluating and recommending new technologies, tools, and processes to improve system reliability and efficiency. + Ensure compliance with industry standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements for all systems. **Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field. + Eight (8+) years of management experience (site lead only) + Seven (7+) years systems engineering experience. + Four (4+) years of experience supporting and sustaining DoD cyberspace programs. + Cloud certified. + DoD 8570 / 8140 compliance or information assurance certification commensurate with technical objectives and services required. + Preferred: 10+ years of experience supporting cyberspace capability development. + Preferred: 5+ years of experience with Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) adversary detection, intrusion forensics, and network recovery hardware / software. + Preferred: Subject matter expert with DoD cyber protection team tools, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) + Preferred: Active CISP + Preferred: Master’s degree in information systems management or related field. Physical Demands: + Must be able to lift 25 pounds + Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time + Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED:Must currently hold a security clearance at theTop Secret/SCI level with Counter Intelligence Polygraph.
