Job Location: Christchurch, NZ
Our Department: Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT)
Does helping transform the earthmoving industry using cutting-edge technologies excite you?
What You Will Do
As a Systems Integration and Test Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the specification, design, testing, and integration of innovative machine control systems. You will work at the intersection of software testing and system engineering, ensuring that high-quality, user-focused products are delivered to market.
This hands-on role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including software engineers, system architects, marketing, and OEMs, to bridge the gap between application functionality and robust system design.
This will involve:

Specify, design, and document system-level interactions between hardware, software, and vehicular control systems
Create harness and cable schematics to support system connectivity
Product Testing and Validation
Develop and execute manual and automated test scripts to validate machine control software and hardware functionality
Interpret high-level requirements into detailed, testable specifications, ensuring alignment with customer needs
Collaboration and Technical Leadership and expertise, working cross-functionally
Documentation creation and maintenance for design and testing
Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
What you'll bring?
You will naturally be a team player who works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, with proactive communication skills, both verbal and written, to articulate complex concepts clearly, and with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
You will also need to bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
A senior level of combined professional experience in QA, software testing, or system engineering
Hands-on experience with vehicular communication and control systems, including J1939 CAN protocols is desirable
Proficiency in testing frameworks, automated test development, and debugging tools
Familiarity with C++, Web, or Android code is an advantage
Curiosity and a drive for continuous learning across technical domains
Experience in surveying, civil construction, or the tech industry is beneficial but not required.
