Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Senior Tax Analyst to join our Tax department based in Herndon, VA.
You will be assisting with the tax function of U.S. based corporations. You will assist with USA Indirect tax returns (including but not limited to Sales, Use, Property, Business License, Gross Receipt, etc.). This position will also be supporting Vertex O and exemption certificates management, as well.

Your challenges:Indirect Tax Compliance: 50%
Compliance functions include preparation of state and local Sales and Use Tax returns using Indirect Tax Return Software. Ensuring all returns are completed and filed timely and accurately including establishment and maintenance of a consolidated compliance calendar. Provide recommendations for improvement including key components that can be centralized.
Ensures proper collection and coordinates sales and use tax payments to ensure accurate and timely payment.
Maintains current knowledge of sales and use tax laws, rules and regulations to help the companies stay in compliance and to leverage any opportunities for cost savings; disseminates information as needed to keep other stakeholders informed.
Handle taxing requirements of all customers, including maintaining proper documentation for all exempt customers. Knowledgeable in resale and exemption certificate validation.
Handle all correspondence from taxing authorities related to indirect tax compliance with timely responses, seeking the most favorable resolution possible.
Ensure proper filings and payments of all Gross Receipts returns to the applicable taxing jurisdiction.
Ensure proper filings of all personal property renditions to the applicable taxing jurisdiction including timely payments of personal and real property taxes.
Manage indirect tax general ledger accounts and monthly tax reconciliations.
Assist with tax audits as required, including requests for data, preparing schedules, gathering work papers, and other supporting documentation.
Assist in various specific tax projects as assigned which may involve research and compliance in indirect tax.
Indirect Tax Technology: 50%
Updating and maintaining Vertex O Series. Monitor accuracy of sales/use tax rates. Provide recommendations for improvement and manage implementation of process improvement initiatives.
Assisting with creating and updating customer exemption status in the Exemption Certificate management tool. Identify opportunities to streamline maintenance of resale and exemption certificates
Support tax department technology needs as they relate to compliance, reporting, analytics and controls.
Identify opportunities to automate.
Participate in special projects, including the development of new products and tools.
Your boarding pass:Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or 3 years of relevant work experience
Three to seven years of experience in the field of indirect tax or in a related area is required.
Intermediate computer skills in MS Office applications
Strong skills for spreadsheets, systems and processes
Tax research skills in CCH platform is preferred
Vertex O Series Sales Tax Engine or similar Tool experience preferred
Knowledge of Vertex Returns preferred
Knowledge of Avalara sales tax exemption certificate management tool preferred
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks, build strong cross functional relationships and communicate well with all levels of the organization
Willingness to take initiative, work autonomously, and follow through on projects until completion.
Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize and multi-tasking, and work under shifting delivery dates in a fast paced environment.
Inquisitive personality with a desire to understand how things work how to improve processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Carrying: occasionally able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Lifting: occasionally able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Pushing / Pulling: occasionally able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
Squatting / Kneeling: occasionally able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
Travel: able to travel between 0 - 5% of the working time.
Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
