Senior Tax Analyst (AZOA) | Hybrid

 

What you do:

The Senior Tax Analyst is primarily responsible for preparing all sales/use, premium and property tax filings with state and local tax laws and regulations. In addition, the position will assist in the preparation of state and local tax income tax returns and will be responsible for tax-related correspondence. This position is a key member of the tax team, collectively ensuring the filing of all indirect tax reporting while assisting with income tax as needed. You will report into the AZOA Tax Manager.

 

Tax Compliance and/or Audits

Accurately prepare premium tax returns and estimates for the U.S. and Canada. Accurately prepare and file monthly sales & use tax returns for the U.S. and Canada. Accurately prepare annual personal property tax returns and reconcile valuation notices from the county assessors. Accurately prepare municipal business licenses by required deadlines. Maintain updated quarterly & annual deadlines & filing requirements by states. Assist in the preparation of state, and local income taxes, as well as the preparation of extension requests and quarterly estimate payments. Handle all inquiries from state and local tax authorities. Assist in obtaining documentation and research activities associated with indirect tax audits.

Data Analysis

Prepare quarterly journal entries as necessary and reconcile general ledger accounts. Assist the premium, technical, and collections accounting teams with ongoing projects as needed. Prepare and review tax data regarding taxability, reconciliations, correct taxing jurisdictions, asset classification and verify tax rates. Assist with research, resolution and responding to tax notices. Research various tax issues & document findings. Effectively communicate data & findings to tax management and other business partners to drive strategic business decision making.

Process Improvements/Internal Controls/Tax Technology

Use tax technology/software to prepare and document tax filings. Help develop and document process improvements and internal controls as required by Allianz. Use Tax Portal in completing due diligence, audit support and internal/external controls. Assisting with executing on and continuously improve team processes, standards, documentations, and other best practices.

Training/Questions

Assisting with training to business partners on income tax regulations/questions related to their respective business. Training other team members as needed. Continually expand tax knowledge, compliance with state tax laws and regulations and current tax developments.

 

What you bring:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field 4+ years of indirect tax experience required and income tax experience preferred. Strong technical skills in tools (MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint, PowerBI, etc.) Experience with or ability to learn software systems such as SAP and PremiumPro Excellent communication, client relationship and collaboration skills Willingness to work required overtime when necessary, especially at high volume filing timeframe
