Visit cat.com to learn more about Cat Financial. Role Definition Prepares complex workpapers, tax returns, audit responses, and research to support Global Tax compliance and planning initiatives. Responsibilities • Prepare tax information requests for multiple US entity’s annual income tax returns. • Complete analysis of technical positions, gather data from the relevant sources, and coordinate timelines with the overall Caterpillar tax team. • Timely and accurately prepare and/or review complex income tax provision calculations, return to provision calculations, and deferred tax balance validations from a U.S. GAAP Accounting for Income Tax (ASC 740) for U.S. companies and subsidiaries. • Prepare monthly tax account reconciliations, effective tax rate calculations and deferred tax balance support and analysis. • Complete necessary calculations for quarterly estimated tax payment calculations. • Lead or support projects process improvements, implementation of controls, or other planning initiatives. Tax Management: Knowledge of tax laws, organizational tax practices, obligations; ability to manage organization tax related issues. Level Working Knowledge: • Collects and prepares documentation for tax filing or tax defense activities. • Works with applying tax law to a specific industry or line of business. • Interprets and explains all locally relevant tax laws. • Documents government regulations that deal with organizational taxes. • Follows tax accounting practices and explains the rationale behind these practices. Tax Operations: Knowledge of tax practices and regulations; ability to prepare and file federal, state and local tax returns. Level Working Knowledge: • Documents practices, standards and procedures for maintaining and reporting tax information. • Interprets and explains key tax-related documents and reports. • Utilizes basic tools to identify and gather the information necessary for preparing a tax return. • Participates in maintaining tax-related records for a specific area of the business. • Resolves common tax-related errors and problems. Tax Regulations: Knowledge of federal, state and local tax procedures and regulations; ability to adhere to tax regulations when filing forms as they pertain to a particular business or industry.
